Soldier helps residents open their garden party

A decorated soldier and a care home's oldest resident opened a garden party to raise funds for Help for Heroes.

Lance Bombadier Christopher Evans, who has served in Afghanistan, is a regular and popular face around Henford House in Wiltshire, particularly with 105-year-old Elizabeth Farnfield, according to the Warminster Journal.

The pair cut the ribbon to open the care home's garden party, welcoming visitors to the event as it raised £811.33 for a soldiers' charity.

Henford House's activities co-ordinator Natalie Fletcher said that the ladies at the centre adore Lance Bombardier Evans, who regularly pops in for dinner and a chat.

"We thought it was a good idea for Elizabeth and Christopher to open the event as it was Age No Barrier Week and there is a big difference in their age," she told the publication.

Henford House is operated by Barchester Healthcare and is set in picturesque ground in Warminster Wiltshire.
