Top tips to stay healthy

Staying healthy as you age is one of the main concerns of older adults and there seems to be a constant stream of advice on how to do this.

However, with all these handy tips and hints, it can be easy to forget what you should actually be doing.

Luckily, Age UK has now compiled 31 simple recommendations on how to stay fit and healthy.

Although this seems like a large number, most revolve around diet, exercise and regular check-ups.

Among them are drinking between six to eight cups of liquid each day, keeping the brain active to avoid dementia and monitoring alcohol intake.

Older adults should also ensure they keep up with their exercise, by going for a walk and doing simple, home-based exercises.

What's more, getting regular body, teeth, ear and eye check-ups is vital to ensure that everything is in working order.

Age UK also advises people to keep their sex life going, as couples that have an active physical life live longer.
