Activities at Ashchurch View Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Celebrating our Heroes for Carers Week!
This Carers Week, we paused to celebrate the incredible, hard-working team that makes Ashchurch View such a special place to live and work. This is a snapshot of just a few of our dedicated carers.
Our General Manager, Samantia De Florimonte-Rose, gave a heartfelt thank you to all of our carers for "coming on the journey" with us. She praised their daily dedication, their wonderful care, and the massive contribution they make to our Ashchurch family every single day.
Sam also shared a special thank you to the team for their amazing patience during our ongoing home transformation. We are nearly there now, and our team will soon have a truly beautiful environment to work in.
The countdown is officially on for our grand opening day on 2nd July, where we will finally cut the ribbon and celebrate this exciting new chapter together!
Thank you, team Ashchurch View. You are appreciated this week, and every week!
What a Wonderful Day at Webbs Garden Centre
Our residents had a fantastic time visiting Webbs Garden Centre. We spent the day exploring all the beautiful, vibrant plant displays and taking in the lovely floral aromas. After a stroll through the gift shop, we treated ourselves to some delicious cakes and refreshments at the café. It was the perfect afternoon filled with smiles, laughter, and great company!
Thanks to our amazing Gardener Brandan who drove the minibus and had the opportunity to looks at new ideas for the beautiful garden he has created at the home.
Supporting residents to enjoy outings, shopping, meals out and other trips is a key aspect of the weekly activities calendar.
From Gloucestershire tradition to Ashchurch View!
Did you know the famous Cooper's Hill cheese rolling has been a tradition for over 600 years? Competitors from all over the world race down the steep hill to catch the wheel of cheese and claim it as their prize!
Our residents had a wonderful time discovering the history behind this iconic event. It sparked fantastic conversations as many reminisced about their own walks on the hill and past visits to the event. Of course, we couldn't just talk about it we had to try it ourselves! We hosted our very own (and much safer!) cheese rolling competition right here at the home which everyone enjoyed.
Blooming Beautiful for Chelsea Flower Show Week!
We have been celebrating the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in style with our very own flower arranging session! The room was filled with wonderful scents, lots of laughs, and plenty of reminiscence as residents shared stories of their own gardens and past trips to the famous show.
We also tackled the ultimate debate of the week... Should Chelsea have lifted its famous 'no gnomes' ban? Let’s just say opinions were divided, and it brought a lot of giggles to the table!
After putting our creative skills to the test, we placed our beautiful arrangements all around the home for everyone to enjoy. What do you think are you team gnome or team no gnome?
Dram Good Time! Slainte Mhath
Our residents had a wonderful afternoon journeying through the Highlands, Lowlands, and beyond!
A huge thank you to the experts at The Scotch Whisky Experience for hosting an incredible Barchester live virtual masterclass for us. Residents and staff learned all about Scotland's rich distilling history, discovered how flavours are crafted, and tasted the unique differences between single malts and blends.
Of course, the highlight was sampling the whisky! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the tasting session It was the perfect blend of historic craftsmanship and great company.
Life Changers at Ashchurch View
Our lounge was packed to the rafters this week for a very special visit from Guide Dogs Ledbury & Malvern! Residents turned out in force to meet the incredible guide dog mum and her adorable puppy, Oakley who proudly wore a jacket saying, "I'm a life changer."
He certainly changed our day! The room was filled with smiles, cuddles, and so much joy. One of our residents even declared it "the best talk we have ever had!"
A massive thank you to the wonderful volunteers Rod Arthur, Lorraine Lumsden, and Debbie Pitts for giving up their time to visit us. You brought so much happiness to our home!
Wishing a very Happy Birthday to the wonderful Cherry
We had the absolute best time celebrating Cherry’s special day with a delicious family meal, surrounded by her friends and our staff.
The incredible feast was prepared completely fresh right here in our home by our dedicated Head Chef, Jon, and his amazing team.
To top off the celebrations, Jon and the team also baked a beautiful, bespoke birthday cake! We love making these individual cakes for each and every one of our residents to celebrate their special days. We hope you had a fantastic birthday, Cherry!
At Ashchurch View Care home we celebrate birthdays not just as a mark of ageing another year but as a celebration of life, achievements, and personal growth. It's a time for reflection, gratitude, and looking forward to future possibilities. Birthdays provide a special opportunity for us to help residents to gather with loved ones and create lasting memories.

Celebrating International Museum Day!
On Monday, the museum came to us! A huge thank you to Angela from the John Moore Museum in Tewkesbury for bringing history right into our lounge
Our residents loved exploring a table full of fascinating historical pieces. Passing the relics around sparked wonderful moments of learning, reminiscence, laughter, and so many shared stories. It was a truly special afternoon.
Thank you, Angela, for making this day so memorable for everyone and delivering such interesting historical facts!
A Tiny Visitor with a Big Heart - Meet Strawberry!
We had a very special guest yesterday at the home, Strawberry, the adorable 10-week-old guinea pig! Strawberry brought so much warmth and happiness to our afternoon.
There were countless smiles from our residents and staff as they enjoyed some quiet cuddles with this little one. It is amazing how much comfort a small furry friend can bring. Thank you, Strawberry, for making our day so bright!
A Special Service of Remembrance
Our home came together for a deeply moving D-Day remembrance, and we are so incredibly proud of our residents for sharing their powerful memories with us.
On Thursday, our local church community visited us to lead a beautiful service, which set a wonderfully reflective tone for the day. Afterwards, we gathered for a reminiscence session with a special PowerPoint presentation. Seeing the old photos brought so many stories to life, with residents sharing their own vivid memories of wartime rationing and skies completely filled with planes. It was a deeply emotional afternoon.
One of our ladies beautifully recalled her brother’s bravery as a tail gunner in the famous Dambusters operation, remembering how he flew in what was easily the most dangerous seat in the aircraft. Another resident shared the incredible story of her grandfather, who bravely built bridges right through enemy shellfire.
To bring our afternoon to a close, we held a respectful minute of silence together. We then placed stars on our remembrance tree, a comfort to us all that their light still shines brightly in our hearts and in the freedom we enjoy today because of their immense sacrifice. Lest we forget.
Huge shoutout to Jacob from the Worcester Cricket Foundation
Jacob recently led an incredible seated sports session at our home. He brought so much energy, fun games, and endless laughter to the room. Our residents absolutely loved him! He has an amazing way with everyone, making sure everyone felt involved and happy.
Because the session was such a massive hit, we are thrilled to announce that Jacob will now be visiting us every single month! Thank you, Jacob, for bringing so much joy to our home. We already cannot wait for next month!
Happy World Culture Day!
Residents and Staff came together to celebrate the world culture day. Residents had a lovely time sharing stories about different cultures, as well as reflecting on our own rich heritage.
We also had a fantastic visit from our volunteer quiz master, Jon! He tested our knowledge with a brilliant quiz all about the unique and fascinating hats worn around the world.
At Ashchurch View we know how important World Culture Day is to us. Embracing our diverse backgrounds, whether this is the staff in the home or our lovely residents builds a deeper sense of understanding, connection, and community. It reminds us that while our traditions may be different through through celebrations like this it brings us closer.
Celebrating 100 Years of Ashchurch Community Village Hall!
Residents were absolutely delighted to join the celebrations for the incredible 100th anniversary of Ashchurch Village Hall on Saturday! It was a monumental milestone, and our residents were deeply honoured to be asked to officially cut the ribbon to mark the Centenary birthday of this wonderful community building.
The afternoon was filled with joy, featuring beautiful choir performances and lively, interactive sing-alongs that got everyone involved from Tapestry Chamber Choir. To top it all off, a truly delightful buffet was provided for everyone in attendance to enjoy.
Thank you to the Ashchurch Village Hall committee for inviting us to be such a special part of your historic day. Here is to the next 100 years!
A Friendly Face-Off!
Residents enjoyed a fantastic trip to our sister home, Tewkesbury Fields, for a competitive afternoon of Scrabble! It was wonderful to see residents and visitors from both homes coming together for some friendly competition and wordplay.
A huge thank you to Paula, the Activity Coordinator at Tewkesbury Fields, for being such a lovely host. The delicious refreshments and treats made everyone feel right at home! Our residents had a brilliant time and are already asking when the next "rematch" will be.
