Activities at Chacombe Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Shopping and Surprizes

This week we took two of our gentlemen residents out for a bit of shopping so they could pick up some items for themselves. After shopping they took some time to relax in a cafe for cake and coffee. Resident Ian was surprized to see an old friend and previous work collegue who continues to drive a Banbury bus just like he did!

A Friday treat for some of our residents today. We took a few of them to our local pub, The George and Dragon in Chacombe village. It's always nice to see our residents in a different environment, having a bit of banter and relaxing together over a lovely pub lunch.

One of our lovely residents Jean, a life long Catholic, told us of her desire is go to a Catholic service, so we took her and two others to the service which they enjoyed very much. The Parishioners were very friendly and made everyone feel welcome.

Another trip out to our weekly dementia choir at Winchester House School. It was another amazing session run by Laurence and the team. The residents had a wonderful time singing a variety songs from Elvis Presley to John Lennon.

One classic tune "Is This the way to Amerillo" caused a debate as to who wrote the song, this was resolved during refreshments!

Macmillan Coffee Morning

We held a Macmillan coffee morning in our home yesterday, a great way to raise funds to support those living with cancer.

Many members of the public join us alongside pupils from the local Chacombe CEVA Primary Academy to take part. As well as refreshments we had a selection of tasty cakes baked by our chefs. The school children had fabulous fun running off all their sweet treats running around the home grounds before heading back to their studies.

The residents enjoyed being involved in the event, chatting with everyone including the children. Donations are still being accepted, we will announce the total raised as soon as possible!
