Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Gosia Andrews

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Gosia and I am the Activities Co-Ordinator here at Cumberland Grange.

I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied Life Enrichment Programme which is full of fun activities for our residents to take part in. We do lots of different activities here which change on a regular basis, including weekly trips out in our mini bus, flower arranging, live musical performances, arts and crafts, cheese and wine nights and so much more. We also have groups which happen every week, mostly lead by our residents, including Poetry Club, Gardening Club, Politics and Pastries, Cumberland Grange Choir and Knit and Natter.

We have monthly resident meetings where we discuss life at Cumberland Grange. We talk about the activities that we currently run, including activities that our residents would like us to incorporate into the planner.

Making wishes come true is also something that we love to do. So, if our resident has a wish, together we try our best to make that happen, because life at Cumberland is about having fun and making even more special memories.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Summer Evenings

A beautiful evening in the summer sunshine at The Passage House Inn, Topsham.

Joined by some of our wonderful families, we enjoyed refreshing cold drinks and nibbles together as we overlooked the water with the warmth from the sun on our faces.

There’s no better way to spend a Tuesday evening.

9 pubs down, 41 to go!

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

What better time than during Carers Week to announce our May Carer of the Month, our amazing Senior Carer Romy.

For those who have been lucky enough to meet Romy will know just how caring and incredibly kind she is to everyone around her. Romy joined Cumberland Grange at the beginning of this year and it goes without saying that she is loved very much by our residents, families and colleagues.

Romy is always one of the first people to step in to support, no matter what the task ahead is. She goes above and beyond her duty in taking excellent care of our residents, and so it is with great happiness that we award Romy with this achievement.

Congratulations Romy, this is so so deserved.

BAKE SALE & JAZZ

Yesterday afternoon we held a Bake Sale to raise money for Barchester's Charitable Foundation, but for those that know us, know that we love a dance and a sing along (any excuse to get us up on our feet!).

Thank you to Dave for once again gracing our ears with your incredible musical performance

& thank you chefs and Ange our amazing Kitchen Assistant for baking the most delicious cakes and scones.

We ate, we drank, we danced and we sang, all whilst raising money for charity!

A wonderful afternoon, thank you to all who joined us.

Happy Birthday Dennis!

We recently celebrated our lovely Dennis on his Birthday! A wonderful person who deserves nothing but happiness.

It is such a privilege to be able to be apart of our residents special days.
