Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Gosia Andrews
Hello, my name is Gosia and I am the Activities Co-Ordinator here at Cumberland Grange.
I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied Life Enrichment Programme which is full of fun activities for our residents to take part in. We do lots of different activities here which change on a regular basis, including weekly trips out in our mini bus, flower arranging, live musical performances, arts and crafts, cheese and wine nights and so much more. We also have groups which happen every week, mostly lead by our residents, including Poetry Club, Gardening Club, Politics and Pastries, Cumberland Grange Choir and Knit and Natter.
We have monthly resident meetings where we discuss life at Cumberland Grange. We talk about the activities that we currently run, including activities that our residents would like us to incorporate into the planner.
Making wishes come true is also something that we love to do. So, if our resident has a wish, together we try our best to make that happen, because life at Cumberland is about having fun and making even more special memories.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Cumberland Grange Care Home
An afternoon with Exeter Chiefs Community
Thank you so much to Tom, Ryan and Ollie for joining us this afternoon for Christmas cocktail making here at Cumberland.
On the cocktail menu was:
• Naughty or Nice
• Snowballs
Perfectly shaken and stirred (unless Tom was in control of the shaker) and served to our residents around the home.
Our residents had such a great afternoon!
We also want to take this opportunity to say the biggest thank you to them for securing us some tickets to go and watch the women’s match this Saturday which we are SO excited for! We’ve got our Exeter Chiefs Official scarves and hats at the ready and we can’t wait.
Christmas shopping trip!
SUPPORTING OUR RNLI
Here at Cumberland we recently had the pleasure of holding a wonderful fundraising coffee morning in support of RNLI Exmouth Fundraising and Shop.
We had live music (thanks Dave), pop up shops (the lovely Zunzun and the RNLI), a fantastic raffle with some prizes donated by Tesco Extra (thank you so much Tesco) and a delicious cake sale (thanks chefs and Ange).
What a wonderful morning with stories shared by our incredible residents who’s lives have been impacted by the support of the RNLI.
It was with great pleasure to support such an amazing charity and we look forward to supporting them again in 2025.
Arts & Crafts
Recently, some of our lovely residents came together and got creative in our activity room.
Lots of beautiful paintings and a whole lot more laughter. All finished with some freshly baked cake and a cup of tea, perfect!
CHRISTMAS IS COMING
EXETER CHIEFS
Last week, Mica our Home Services Advisor took a visit to see Tom, Head of Community and Ryan, Community Development Manager from Exeter Chiefs Community to discuss collaborative opportunities for our residents.
Tom, Ryan and the rest of their wonderful team do amazing things with different communities in Exeter and we are thrilled to be apart of their journey in supporting those who love rugby.
We have some big Exeter Chiefs Official rugby fans here at Cumberland and we can’t wait to share with you some of the great plans we have.
