Activities at Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Tickled Pink

Hafan-Y-Coed held a 'Tickled Pink Day’ to raise funds for this fantastic cause.  The team and residents made biscuits, ribbons and hearts and managed to raise an excellent amount of money for breast cancer charities.  Thank you to everyone who donated today it means so much to us all.

Shwmae Day

Today we celebrated Shwmae Day at Hafan-Y-Coed.  A day to celebrate the Welsh language which is so important to our culture, approximately 50% of our residents can speak or understand welsh and enjoy chatting to our Welsh speaking staff members. The team here take great pride in offering a bilingual service and have incorporated the use of the language into activities and dining menus. We have had a fantastic day and made some lovely memories. Diolch i bawb a helpodd ni i ddathlu'r diwrnod arbennig hwn!

Cocktails and Cruising

It was time for cocktails and cruising and the residents had an absolute ball this afternoon as they boarded the Barchester virtual cruise ship. They enjoyed 5 star dining created by one of our wonderful chefs Luke Burchell and enjoyed an array of tropical cocktails.  A few of our ladies enjoyed reminiscing about past cruise holidays and shared some lovely memories with us all.  A huge thank you to our activities team for steering the ship and to our carers for joining us on this journey.

Do Not Pass Go!

If there is one board game you can really get into it is Monopoly and what better way to spend a rainy afternoon with friends.  Thank you Louise for joining in and ensuring fair play!  We all agreed we like to play the original version and wondered how long it had been around as everyone knows Monopoly.  A quick check on Google and the first version was created in 1902 which is incredible!
