Activities at Hethersett Hall Care Home

Activities, hobbies and interests make up the most important part of our days and who we are as people. We provide a varied activities programme that reflects the interests and capabilities of all the individuals we support. All of the group and individual activities are designed to not only mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for, but to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. We achieve this through a constantly updated activities programme and one-to-one sessions with residents that are tailored to suit individuals needs. We also offer a range of outings in our mini-bus.

Hi, I’m Caroline Evans and I’ve been at Hethersett Hall for 7 years now and been in the care sector for 13 years and believed it was time for a change in my career at Barchester.

I’m extremely motivated for my new role as activities coordinator. I hope I will bring joy and fun to everyone’s daily lives. I am a highly active and bubbly person. Butterflies galore at Hethersett Hall

At Hethersett Hall we were joined by Foteini Araka of Creative Mojo to create and paint some beautiful Butterflies to go on the “Tree of Celebration”. To celebrate Art within Care and National Care Home Open Day on the 28th of June, the Butterflies will be combined with others produced by thousands of residents around the UK and exhibited on a large tree installed by the National Trust! Our residents loved taking part in this wonderful project to represent our home as part of the greater care community. Thank you to Creative Mojo for giving our home and residents this amazing opportunity. What a special day!

Ann Egg-cellent Easter

Staff and residents had a wonderful Easter weekend with lots of activities and, of course, chocolate!

On Thursday 18th, residents attended a lovely Easter service and holy communion with Reverend Derek McClean. We also had a cake sale on throughout the day, which residents and relatives enjoyed in our café lounge. Our Head Chef, Donna, decorated an amazing cake that was sold within minutes! Residents also played lots of Easter games.

On Saturday, we were joined by lots of children from Friend in Deed for an egg hunt throughout the home. We had a great turn out and, luckily, the weather was beautiful. People sat in the garden enjoying the sunshine whilst playing games and eating ice lollies to cool us down after all the excitement!

We spent some time creating Easter bonnets and baskets with our Memory Lane residents on Easter Sunday, which brought a smile to their faces! We also had a very good start to our fundraising for Finbarr's Force and East Anglian Air Ambulance!

Thank you to everyone for your support in making Easter a special time for residents.

World Book Day

World Book Day

We celebrated World Book Day with residents and shared our favourite stories. The day began with poetry on Memory Lane, with residents sitting in the sunshine whilst we read together

Later that day, residents in Main Hall, gathered round to hear stories of Norfolk by Pat Nearney from Norfolk Dialect. They also enjoyed singing along to some very well-known songs.

Staff dressed as their favourite character, which was a lot of fun and a great topic of conversation amongst the residents. They performed a special version of 'The Wizard of Oz' for Memory Lane residents that included an interactive and sensory environment.

We were also joined by some children from Friend in Deed, which made the occasion even more special.

A trip to Centre Paws!

Residents from Hethersett Hall enjoyed an interesting lunch at the Blackberry Tearoom in Centre Paws, Wymondham.  A lovely farm with lots of animals, an Agility Centre and a Dog friendly café too!!! This sure brought a smile to our residents faces who thoroughly enjoyed their trip out. It is a pleasure to share moments like these together and create memories that will last forever.

We are now 10-60-06 accredited!

Hethersett Hall is delighted to have achieved accreditation for a new standard of dementia care that has been developed by dementia care specialists at Barchester.

The 10-60-06 dementia programme was developed and trialled by Barchester's dementia team, replacing the previous dementia care programme, in order to ensure that the care services provided in Barchester’s Memory Lane communities are the best in the sector.

We have implemented significant improvements to the personalised dementia care services we offer, and the way that all staff are trained, to better understand what it means to be living with dementia.
