Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

Life at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Painting a masterpiece

Vincent was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who posthumously became one of the most famous and influential figures in Western art history.

To mark what would have been his birthday, we took a virtual visit to the Van Gogh Museum to explore his paintings, letters written by him and his biography.

Our residents got involved in an art class where they painted their own masterpieces and a session where they learnt interesting facts about the famous painter.

The Wallace Collection

We had a lovely time joining Holly and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to the Collection, followed by a sensory exploratory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.  The Collection ranges from Old Master paintings to 18th century French furniture, arms and armour.  We all had a wonderful time and cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and paint some landscapes in the upcoming days.

Outdoor bowls

Residents at Iddenshall Hall made the most of the warmer weather and enjoyed a game of bowls in the homes extensive grounds.

The Residents really got into the spirit of things, there was even a spot of healthy competition between!

One Resident commented, “ I can’t believe how mild it is for March and another one remarked, “I’m unbeatable at this!”.

Another remarked, “It's good to get as much fresh air as possible, especially when the weather is like this".

Mother's Day

Our home was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and bunting in recognition of Mother’s Day and all the mothers in our home.

During the day, we arranged individual flowers for our female residents, afternoon tea party, discussions about the role of mothers, reminiscing sessions about our residents’ childhoods, it was an action packed day!

Our residents got creative and made their own flower bouquets and flower frames, as they enjoyed a variety of yummy sweet and savoury treats.

There were smiles all around the home.

Theatre inspired virtual talk

We had a lovely time joining Angela Cobbin for a theatre-inspired virtual talk about her book ‘My Name is Not Wigs’.  ‘My Name Is Not Wigs’ is the ultimate read for fans of witty behind-the-curtains memoirs, especially those with a penchant for the bright lights of stage and screen: tears and accolades aplenty!

Angela shared interesting facts with our residents about her book, her life and her experiences as a wig creator in London’s West End in celebration of World Theatre Day.

Nutrition and Hydration Week

Our residents and staff are taking part in this year’s Nutrition and Hydration Week.   Throughout the week, we will focus on fun-filled educational activities on the value of food and drink in maintaining health and wellbeing, sensory and tasting sessions.

Today we started the week by preparing and enjoying a Brilliant Breakfast!   Our residents enjoyed cutting up an array of fresh fruit including strawberries, raspberries blueberries & banana and then chose which they would like to top their Weetabix. Most chose to taste all!

Everyone agreed that this was the perfect way to start the day.
