Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

Enjoying the Spring weather

Here at Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View we have been busy enjoying the warmer sunny days with walks through the gardens, exercising outdoors to simply sitting in the sun and chatting over refreshments.   On the walks around the garden, some stop to comment about the plants, whilst others simply enjoy the sun and the environment.

Sea Life London Aquarium

As part of Barchester’s Life Enrichment Programme, staff and residents at Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View in Clotton enjoyed an exciting virtual presentation, provided by SEA LIFE London Aquarium.

Everyone at the home had the opportunity to learn more about the SEA LIFE London Aquarium, which is a home to more than 300 species and 4,000 creatures and to see green sea turtles, feeding of Gentoo penguins and sharks in their 1 million litre shark tank.

The SEA LIFE London Aquarium is located on the ground floor of County Hall on the South Bank of the River Thames in central London, near the London Eye. It opened in March 1997 as the London Aquarium and hosts about one million visitors each year.

Gardening Club - getting the pots ready.

Residents at Iddenshall Hall and Beeston View enjoy the gardening, planting seeds and flowers and with the good weather, it was great to get outdoors to enjoy the homes extensive grounds.  Conversations flowed as Residents shared their gardening tips, favourite plants and remembering the names of many different varieties along with details of their own gardens.

This week’s gardening club Residents begun to get the pots ready for displaying outside the homes conservatory.  It was a splendid afternoon and everyone had fun before returning indoors for a refreshing cup of tea and a slice of home-made cake.

Residents enjoy V&A Mary Quant talk

As part of our life enrichment virtual programme, team members and residents at Iddenshall Hall in Clotton enjoyed a ‘Mary Quant Life and Time’ virtual talk, hosted by @VADundee.

The residents took a journey back to the swinging sixties and the height of liberated fashion with the first major exhibition in 50 years of the seminal British designer’s work. Everyone at the home was able to explore how her unique style developed from humble beginnings and went on to change the face of fashion forever.

Quant captured the spirit of the swinging sixties and pioneered a business model that reshaped the industry, making designer fashion far more accessible for women and men.

The talk also focused on Quant’s career and influences, the personal stories behind some of the stylish outfits in the exhibition, V&A Dundee’s #SewQuant campaign and even a peek behind the scenes.
