Activites at Kings Park Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Angela Cawsey
Activities Lead
Hello, I am Angela the Activities Lead.
I am delighted to be part of the team at Kings Park after a transferring from a sister home in Salisbury, following my relocation to this area.
With experience in this role, my passion is bringing joy to our residents, whether on a one-to-one basis or in groups. I love getting to know each resident and incorporating their interests into engaging, meaningful activities and events that nurture the mind, body and spirit to enhance their well-being and life enrichment at our home. Making people smile is what I do best!
During lockdown, I ran daily Zoom sessions for well-being, including bingo and quizzes. When my children were young I volunteered as a helper at Boys Brigade and St John's Ambulance which was very rewarding. I love being a Grandma, music, crafts, the outdoors and animals - I have just started a new hobby of wild swimming with friends.
Celebrating life at Kings Park Care Home

Exciting Announcement!
We at Kings Park are thrilled to share that Natasha Lazovic has been promoted from Managing Director of the South Division to the Executive Board of Barchester, taking on the role of Chief Operating Officer.
A trained nurse, Natasha began her Barchester journey in 2014 as Regional Director leading 10 homes, which then doubled to 20 as Senior Regional Director. As Managing Director of the South, she was in charge of the 87 care homes that form Barchester’s largest division.
In light of Natasha's promotion, the South Division will undergo a restructuring, creating two smaller divisions. Duncan Edwards will take on the role of Managing Director of the South West Division which covers our home here.
Commenting on her new role, Natasha said: “It has been my absolute privilege to be Managing Director of the South division, I have loved working with each and every one of my homes but I move onto my new position happy in the knowledge that Michelle and Duncan with be excellent new Managing Directors for their respective divisions. I am eager to see what my new role brings, I look forward to getting to know all of the teams, patients and residents in my new homes and hospitals across the country.”
Congratulations Natasha, Duncan and Michelle from Jenna and Team.
Call My Bluff Quiz Night!
We had such a fun evening with Morgan Antell and team as they hosted their fantastic Call My Bluff night here.
They brought along 14 unusual items, some dating back to the 1800’s - and each gave their own version of what the objects were. Their bluffs were so convincing, even the winning team only guessed 7 correctly!
Morgan and the team kindly volunteer their time and through events like this they’ve raised over £9,000 for the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance in the past year.
The team also won the raffle hamper and we couldn’t think of more deserving people to have it! A big thank you to everyone who helped out on the night too and made it so enjoyable.
Our residents, families and visitors had a great time – we’re already looking forward to part two, so keep an eye out if you’d like to join us next time with another set of unusual objects!
Ferndown Fete on the Field
We had a fabulous time at the Ferndown Fete on the Field weekend organised seamlessly by Ferndown & Parley Rotary.
Along with our sister home Parley Place we enjoyed the glorious weather and talking to local residents about the care we provide, community events we have coming up that are open to all and also meeting other stall holders and local businesses.
We had a free prize draw going for a fabulous hamper and the winner was Janice House! Congratulations!
As well as talking about our home, we also had some information from Ferndown dementia friendly town and some lovely knitted forget me knots and items made a local craft group. If you are interested in finding out more about how you can get involved then please do get in touch.

A very special birthday shout out to Jenna May!
From all the residents and team here at Kings Park in Ferndown, warmest wishes for a fantastic day. We hope you enjoy every moment of your celebrations.
Thank you for everything you do as our wonderful Senior Manager, have the happiest of birthdays!
Good Tunes & Good Times with Bee Chumley
We enjoyed an afternoon of singalong classics with Bee, there was lots of dancing, singing and toe-tapping. Another wonderful time had by all.
A Perfect Afternoon on the Water
We had a wonderful trip aboard The Friends of Dolphin boat, setting off from Poole Quay and cruising around to Beautiful Brownsea Island. The weather was perfect for being out on the water, we even caught a glimpse of the Santa Maria ship, a real highlight for everyone on board!
They did it – out of their comfort zone and into the sky!
Our very own Stephanie Read and Jane Shanahan took the plunge from 15,000ft, with a one-minute freefall at over 120mph, all in support of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care and as part of their Skydive25 challenge!
They were part of a team of ten brave fundraisers who leapt for this amazing cause, taking in stunning views of Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, even to the Isle of Wight. (Bright shoes were a must so family and friends could spot them from the ground! )
They’ve raised £1,420 so far, contributing to a brilliant £6,754 so far - helping Lewis Manning continue offering free care and services to people with life limiting illnesses. They need to raise £3.8 million every year, so every penny counts.
A huge thank you to everyone who's donated and cheered them on, including those supporting on the day!
Would they do it again? “Absolutely!”
There is still time to show support and donate at: https://www.justgiving.com/.../barchester-kingspark-jane...
Special mention to Angela Caswey who was unable to complete the challenge this time, but is planning on this soon!
Celebrating Father's Day - Pop up Pub
We celebrated Father's Day with a pop-up pub event! On Sunday, June 15, we treated residents and their families to a special lunch, before transforming part of the home into 'The Kings Park Arms'.
Residents and relatives enjoyed a selection of drinks including Guinness and cider, along with traditional bar snacks. There was also a snooker competition and darts match. One relative said the 'snooker table made Bert's day'

Happy Anniversary!
We had a very special day for a very special couple — Richard and Pat celebrated 39 wonderful years of marriage together!
Richard wanted to surprise Pat with a gift before her arrival, so we took a lovely walk into Ferndown where he picked out some beautiful flowers just for her.
They enjoyed a celebratory afternoon tea lovingly prepared by our brilliant hospitality team — we hope you both had the most wonderful day with us.
