Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Claudia Canosa

Activities Lead

Claudia moved to the UK from her native South Africa with her family some 6 years ago, although her family are of Italian decent.

With a caring nature, Claudia worked for a domiciliary care company helping in people in the community before eventually working in a care home environment, working up to the role of Senior Carer.

Realising how much she enjoyed making the residents smile, Claudia has now stepped into the role of Activities Lead here at Kings Park and very much loves the interaction with our residents, who have all taken a real shine to her.

Claudia can regularly be seen with our residents in a very creative capacity, enjoying flower arranging or leading everyone in a game of good old fashioned Bingo!

When at home, Claudia is a mother to two boys and a girl and also a pet mum to the the gorgeous, Molly - a Jack Russell cross.

She loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa in front of a good rom/com, with:  The Holiday, The Lakehouse and The Notebook as some of her favourites to date.

We are so happy to have her as part of the Kings Park team.

Feed the Birds...

Recently here at Kings Park our residents had a wonderful afternoon mixing and rolling some tasty peanut balls for the birds...

Gathering in our Memory Lane dining room, everyone put on some rather stylish gloves to avoid getting sticky, whilst they mixed up honey, popcorn, peanut butter and lots of other nutritious things, creating some little balls for the birdlife in our garden.

Suffice to say that it really smelt delicious! We really think that the birds will love their special treats.

62 Glorious Years!

Kings Park were celebrating with one lovely couple recently...

Sixty-two years ago, the fabulous Peter & Val, (both residents here at Kings Park), both stood at the alter and said: 'I do', so we felt this definitely needs a celebration!

Our wonderful Head Chef, Wynn, made the couple a delicious chocolate cake to celebrate and in true Wynn fashion, it tasted REALLY good!

Val & Peter were delighted with all the cards they received from family & friends, as well as a very special card from all of the Kings Park staff - It even had their names on the front.

What was really lovely, was that as they were opening their cards together, there was obviously another lovely couple who must had wed too, as the church bells were pealing loudly outside!

CONGRATULATIONS to you both - Here's to many more years together!

Put on Your Dancing Shoes...

Nick Sellers was front and centre for a recent morning's activity and EVERYONE loved it...

After a slow start, it wasn't long before our fabulous resident, Eric, was the first among us to get up and dance - and dance he did!

With Eric off and dancing, he was soon encouraging others to join him, so everyone was having a boogie in one way or another; the passing staff also were drawn in for a wiggle and a sing too!

The morning was pure joy from start to finish and what a wonderful feeling it has left in the home in its aftermath!

HUGE Thanks go to Nick and of course, Eric, for the most wonderful feelgood session. Also to the lovely Kayla & Chloe from Ferndown Upper School who were brilliant at engaging and dancing with everyone - Thanks girls!!!

Famous Faces...

Up on our Memory Lane floor residents recently enjoyed a wonderful reminiscence session taking them back to yesteryear...

The residents were shown images of some very faces folk, including that of Audrey Hepburn, John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe and even more recent faces such as David Beckham were thrown into the mix.

This sparked some wonderful conversations amongst our residents as they recalled their own personal memories of these famous faces from stage, screen and the world of sport.

What a wonderful session this was!

Mary Berry, who?

Recently here at Kings Park, some of our residents washed their hands, rolled up their sleeves and donned their aprons as they cooked up some delicious home-made treats for us all...

Who needs Paul Hollywood or Mary Berry, when we have our very own versions of them here in the home.

After an afternoon of mixing and making, the end results were better than any technical make in the Bake Off tent, as everyone was impressed with their delicious jammy biscuits.

Well done, Bakers - You have done us proud!

Swinging Sinatra

We recently welcomed the fabulous Swinging Sinatra into our home...

There's nothing our residents love more than coming together over their mutual enjoyment for the music of yesteryear and Swinging Sinatra did NOT disappoint!

Residents from all floors sang and danced along in a wonderful session of music and reminiscence.

What a joyous occasion for us all!
