Activities at Kings Park Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Kings Park Care Home
Reading Buddies
he children of Ferndown First School joined our residents here at Kings Park recently for some afternoon fun...
The children joined us and shared some of their favourite books with our residents, even doing a little reading with them.
The residents love these special interactions, bringing all ages together and they really like to teach each other!
Radio Star!
After bumping into the wonderful Phillip from Forest FM recently, Eric readied himself for a little air time...
Eric met Phillip as he chatted with passers by at Ferndown Tesco this week as he promoted his walk within the community and Phillip was keen to pop along today for an in depth interview about the reasons for the walk and how he is supporting two wonderful local charities.
Lewis-Manning Hospice Care & Julia's House Children's Hospice are very much at the heart of this week and Eric was keen to put that across to the station's listeners.
There was one heart-warming moment during this interview, when Eric said: 'Walking with the children from Ferndown First School this week was up there with one of the best moments in my life.'
That, our friends, is why we do what we do - Truly Celebrating Life with all the Barchester Healthcare's residents!
We will let you know once we do, when the interview will be aired!
Well done Eric!

Eric's Epic Walk hits Ferndown First School!
Eric was truly 'Celebrating Life' during his time at the school recently (a very apt tag line for the residents of Barchester Healthcare homes, but especially our Eric!), as he cheered on the children as they all came out in support of Eric's EPIC Walk, helping Lewis-Manning Hospice Care & Julia's House Children's Hospice.
Timed with military precision, one year group at a time, they all came and joined Eric on the school's walking track to do their laps.
With some wonderful, uplifting music to ready the troops for action, the children all walked, skipped, danced and wiggled their way around the track, having a great time doing so!
Eric was very impressed with everyone as they smashed their laps and many doing way more than expected!
There were high fives, hugs and fist bumps galore as Eric encouraged everyone along.
We are so excited to hear the final totals of miles walked and also how much they have helped us to raise for our incredible charities, so watch this space.
Well done Ferndown First School - YOU ARE ALL AMAZING!
Pictured today is Eric with some of the school's sports captains - We will post more pictures later in the week of the rest of the school - There are many to share!

Roady Gets Involved!
Helping Eric with laps of the garden recently, was the ever trusty, Roady, the Kings Park therapy dog...
Bringing his lovely companion, Terry, with him, Roady did his usual tour of the home to bring some much needed cuddles and doggy kisses for all our residents - It was a very nice break from all the Wimbledon coverage that our residents are really engrossed in at present!
Before departing, Roady and Terry stopped for a photo or two in the garden before walking a few laps with Eric to add to our ever growing total.
Eric and all at Kings Park would like to thank Roady & Terry for their kind donation to our cause, which will go towards benefitting Lewis-Manning Hospice Care & Julia's House Children's Hospice.

Eric's Epic Walk Launch Party!
We are very pleased to announce that Eric was on top form recently as he welcomed some wonderful people into our home for the launch party of Eric's Epic Walk...
Eric was excited to meet Krissy Stamp from Ferndown Town Council (and also happens to be our new local Mayor), who stopped in to show her support for the walk, as well as other friends and relatives of families and representatives from both of our chosen charities: Julia's House Children's Hospice & Lewis-Manning Hospice Care.
We started off the proceedings with a wonderful speech from Eric, before all the residents and guests all did a few laps of our garden, not forgetting to put down on our whiteboard all the laps they have done.
Later in the week we were excited to be supporting the children from Ferndown First School as they venture out to do their miles with Eric cheering them on. Fingers crossed the weather is kind to us!

Not Just Any Flowers...
We are very grateful indeed for the gift of day over flowers from our wonderful friends over at Marks and Spencer Food Hall here in Ferndown...
These beautiful blooms were very well received by our residents who love nothing more than gathering together for a spot of flower arranging.
As you enter our home, you will be welcomed by some very happy looking sunflowers on our reception, before two further bouquets adorn our cafe area and newspaper table, ready to spread a little joy for all who see them.
So please take the time to appreciate the fact that these are 'not just any flowers, but these are M&S flowers...', arranged specially for you all to appreciate by our lovely residents!
Thank you M&S for the kind donation that has spread so many smiles!
