Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Claudia Canosa

Activities Lead

Claudia moved to the UK from her native South Africa with her family some 6 years ago, although her family are of Italian decent.

With a caring nature, Claudia worked for a domiciliary care company helping in people in the community before eventually working in a care home environment, working up to the role of Senior Carer.

Realising how much she enjoyed making the residents smile, Claudia has now stepped into the role of Activities Lead here at Kings Park and very much loves the interaction with our residents, who have all taken a real shine to her.

Claudia can regularly be seen with our residents in a very creative capacity, enjoying flower arranging or leading everyone in a game of good old fashioned Bingo!

When at home, Claudia is a mother to two boys and a girl and also a pet mum to the the gorgeous, Molly - a Jack Russell cross.

She loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa in front of a good rom/com, with:  The Holiday, The Lakehouse and The Notebook as some of her favourites to date.

We are so happy to have her as part of the Kings Park team.

Hand Pampering

Kings Park were recently delighted to welcome two fabulous students who came across to us from Ferndown Upper School...

Kayla and Chloe (who we introduce to you all in a previous post), were back in the home to offer some of our residents a relaxing hand pamper to all of our residents and they certainly did not disappoint!

As the girls welcomed individuals to enjoy a file and polish, word soon circulated around the home and the residents came in their droves to each enjoy their company along as well as get their nails done beautifully.

The girls seemed to thoroughly enjoy their time with our residents and we know that our residents are all very eager to enjoy their company again soon.

Thank you Kayla & Chloe - You are certainly winning the popularity contest her at Kings Park!

See you again soon!

Meet Our New Friends...

Here at Kings Park we are delighted to announce an exciting new union with our neighbours...

We have linked in with the wonderful students over at Ferndown Upper School and offered them the opportunity for students to come and do a little volunteering with some of our residents.

This is such an exciting new venture for both parties and here in the home, the residents are super keen to meet our first two volunteers...

Meet the wonderful Chloe & Kayla!

Both of these lovely young ladies, who are sixth form students, are keen to explore job opportunities for the future and see what direction that they may want to go, so by doing a little volunteering, they can see inside our world and all the varying job roles that working in care includes. They will be working alongside Lauren, our Activities Lead, who is also very excited to have them on board.

We are so looking forward to hosting them both and at the very least hope to make two new friends regardless!

Thank you Kayla & Chloe and we will see you both next week.

Bunny Hunting Season Has Begun!

t that time of year, folks - Bunny Hunting season has now officially begun!

Kings Park residents and staff were recently spotted out and about in the Ferndown area recently, hiding 12 little Barchester Bunnies in local shop windows, on notice boards and in public buildings, all ready for the local children to find.

If you have a young family who would like to get involved, then you can do so for FREE by either collecting a bunny hunt form from our foyer here at Kings Park or by emailing us and we will send you one for each of your children.

It's a great, fun activity that gets you out and about this Easter time and is perfect to do with all members of your family as well as getting some exercise!

All the entry forms must be returned to our foyer by Thursday 6th April at 5pm or by email for your chance to win some yummy Easter treats!

So tell all your friends and family and come and get your Bunny Hunt on this Easter!

Celebrating our Mums

What an incredible afternoon we had on Sunday last...

Mother's day is definitely worthy of a celebration and on Sunday afternoon we invited all of our residents to join us on our top floor for a special afternoon tea in honour of our mother's; past and present.

With a delicious array of cakes and scones laid on by the wonderful Chef, Wynn, residents enjoyed the afternoon together celebrating their own mums as well as some being mother's themselves.

Sharing memories of motherhood over a nice cuppa, with friends aplenty, what's not to love!

We hope you all enjoyed you Mother's days!

Daffs Delivery

Mother's day here at Kings Park was a wonderful floral success, starting with a delightful delivery of daffodils to all of the home's residents...

Activities Lead, Lauren, surprised everyone by handing out some mini bouquets of these gorgeous seasonal flowers, tied with ribbons and tags saying 'Happy Mother's Day from all at Kings Park'.

For some, it was a mark of gratitude for their own motherhoods and for others it was a lovely reminder of their own mothers and all the fond memories they shared together.

We will see how the residents spent their Mother's day afternoon celebrating together in our next post...
