Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Linnie's 'Pop-up' Fashion Event

We recently welcomed the wonderful Linda from Linnies Fashions into our home for a wonderful afternoon of retail therapy for residents, staff, family & friends.

Linnie brought a wonderful array of clothing in a wide variety of sizes - Over nine rails worth!

There was a wonderful vibe as everyone had a good look at what was on offer, trying on various pieces and asking each other's thoughts on how they looked.

Of course, there was also some delicious homemade cream cakes, and Pimm's on offer for all of our shoppers - It was very welcome after a busy shopping spell!

Thank you Linnie, for coming along. Our residents specifically, have enjoyed this so much.

We look forwards to your next visit, in late November, ready to kit everyone out for the, dare we say it, Christmas parties!

Word Game Fun!

Residents were recently enjoying yet another fun game of Scrabble in our foyer area recently...

They love this challenge and it really gets the old grey matter going!

There was, of course, a pause in the proceedings for the obligatory cuppa and cake, much to everyone's appreciation.

Well done everyone, you really put each other through their paces.

Why not come and join in if you see a game happening? There's always room for a few more!

The Sun has got his Hat on!

May has been a great month for our residents weather-wise and they have really made the most of their sunny days to get out into the Kings Park garden.

Spotted recently, were some of our lovely gentleman folk, who enjoyed getting outside for some fresh air and good old chat!

Whatever you got up to today on this May bank holiday, here at Kings Park, we hope it was relaxing one and that the weather held out for whatever you did!

Stage Coach Serenades...

We recently welcomed in the fantastically talented students from Stagecoach Performing Arts Ringwood and Wimborne for a special performance...

With the sun brightly shining in the sky and the residents out on the patio in force, the students sang with great enthusiasm, much to the delight of everyone in attendance.

What was extra special, was the fact that the school's Principal, Emily, is also the granddaughter of one of King's Park's residents, Anna, who also joined us on the patio, proudly watching as the children sang.

THANK YOU all for a truly wonderful morning, which definitely made everyone's day here in the home, but especially Anna's!

Cyclethon Event Raises for Funds for Amazing Charity!

Recently here at Kings Park, residents and staff literally went the extra mile in support of a wonderful cause.

Barchester’s Charitable Foundation is a registered charity that helps older people and adults with a disability across England, Scotland, Wales and Jersey. Their focus is about connecting or re-connecting people with others in their local community, and they support applications that combat loneliness and enable people to be active and engaged.

So in aid of the wonderful charity, a Cyclethon was organised with residents, staff as well as family & friends, each taking it in turns to cycle on the static bike in situ in the home's foyer.

The aim was not to cycle a specific amount of miles, but was a way of uniting everyone together for a day of fitness and fun and in doing so, raising funds and awareness for the Foundation and the important work which they do.

Everyone in the home that day was very keen to participate in whatever way they could, taking it in turns to cycle either on the bike or on a special foot cycle, a gentler way in which to participate.

In addition to cycling, there was also some egg and spoon relays, which brought smiles to everyone's faces!

So far, the home have raised a wonderful £407!

A HUGE WELL DONE to all who came along and supported us for this fabulous event.

Pamper Evening Fun!

A HUGE thank you to all who joined us for our Pamper Evening recently...

We invited some amazing therapists to join us for an evening of much needed relaxation, offering a range of treatments/advice to all in attendance. Huge thanks to Jemma from Relax & Remedy and Zoe Jaemy Phoenix -Mindset & Menopause Coach for coming along.

Also we welcomed a few local traders, selling arts and crafts and handmade gifts.

All we needed now was a little musical entertainment, which was provided by the wonderful Nigel Revill - Lone Reveller Music, who added a little fun to the proceedings. It wasn't long before there was a little impromptu dancing, singing and even a conga line weaving around the stalls!

Delicious food and fizz was overseen by our lovely 'host with the most', Jake, serving up some tasty morsels created by our amazing kitchen team.

What was clear, was that everyone had a wonderful time and we are so, so grateful for all who supported this event.
