Activities at Kings Park Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Claudia Canosa

Activities Lead

Claudia moved to the UK from her native South Africa with her family some 6 years ago, although her family are of Italian decent.

With a caring nature, Claudia worked for a domiciliary care company helping in people in the community before eventually working in a care home environment, working up to the role of Senior Carer.

Realising how much she enjoyed making the residents smile, Claudia has now stepped into the role of Activities Lead here at Kings Park and very much loves the interaction with our residents, who have all taken a real shine to her.

Claudia can regularly be seen with our residents in a very creative capacity, enjoying flower arranging or leading everyone in a game of good old fashioned Bingo!

When at home, Claudia is a mother to two boys and a girl and also a pet mum to the the gorgeous, Molly - a Jack Russell cross.

She loves nothing more than curling up on the sofa in front of a good rom/com, with:  The Holiday, The Lakehouse and The Notebook as some of her favourites to date.

We are so happy to have her as part of the Kings Park team.

Arms in the air, like you just don't care!

Guess who was spotted in one of our exercise sessions recently?

Every week here at Kings Park, the residents are encouraged to join in with one of the many on demand exercise classes provided to us by the wonderful Oomph Wellness, which helps to keep the residents moving, being fitter and stronger for longer...

And who did we spy joining in with one of their sessions? Only our lovely Senior General Manager, Jenna, that's who!

Go, Jenna! Show them how it's all done!

'Up two, three, four, down, two, three, four...'

If you happen to be in the home next time we have one of our exercise sessions, the you also can come along and join in - You would be most welcome!

Out & About...

Here at Barchester Healthcare's Kings Park, we like to enable our residents to still do all the lovely day to day things that they would usually do before moving into our care...

Getting out and about in our community is very important to some of our residents, so recently, when the lovely Eric asked if he could pop to Tesco in Ferndown for a a few bits, that's exactly what we enabled him to do!

Off he went in the company of our lovely Activities Lead, Claudia, and enjoyed a mosey around the supermarket for a few bits he wanted, before strolling back to the home.

It's these simple things that often mean the most and what they get the most pleasure from, so if we can do these things for our residents, then we absolutely will!

Tony Edwards Sings!

The fabulous Tony Edwards entertained our residents recently, adding a lot of lovely colour to our home...

Dressed in rather bright & cheerful attire, much to the delight of everyone, Tony sang some wonderful tunes from yesteryear, including hits from Elvis, Neil Diamond, Abba and many, many more!

There was singing, dancing and a wonderful atmosphere as Tony filled the home with lots of familiar music for everyone to enjoy - Including some of our lovely friends and family!

THANK YOU for your music, Tony and we hope you will be back to see us all again very soon.

A Beaulieu-ful Day!

Some of our wonderful residents from Kings Park and a resident from our sister home, Hyacinth House Care Home - Barchester Healthcare, were recently treated to a lovely day trip out to Beaulieu, National Motor Museum...

With Activities Lead, Claudia, at the wheel of the Kings Park minibus, they stopped off to collect a resident from Hyacinth House, before heading off on their special trip to Beaulieu through the very picturesque New Forest - Where they also spotted a few New Forest ponies.

They toured the fabulous Motor Museum, where they saw lots of vehicles from all eras, including some very famous ones too!

Mr Bean's mini, a James Bond car and the Queen's childhood play caravan, were just some of the amazing things they saw, but by far one of the most iconic cars spotted, was the magnificent car used in the filming of Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang!

Enjoying the beautiful blue skies and also a delicious picnic prepared by our Chef, the residents could not have had a more wonderful day.

Alpaca Adventures!

What a truly wonderful experience it was last week when we welcomed the fabulous Wendy Williams and some of her beautiful, furry friends from Alpaca Adventures...

Liquorice and the rather grandly named, Spartan Warrior (Spar for short...), were guests of honour in our home as they went from room to room, surprising all of our residents for a special visit.

Everyone was really thrilled and in complete awe that two alpacas were popping in to see them!

It was a wonderful afternoon and here are just some of the photos from the day, with more to follow on tomorrow.

THANK YOU, Wendy, Liquorice & Spar for such a wonderful afternoon, which brought so much pleasure to all in our home!

On another note, see how we squeezed two alpacas, a Home Services Advisor, an Alpaca Keeper and a visitor, into a lift! (Sounds like that start of a bad joke!)
