Activities at Middletown Grange Care Home

We aim to provide a variety of activities that will both mentally and physically stimulate the people we support. Residents have a range of different needs and interests, and it is crucial that these are reflected in the activities available, so that each individual is able to participate to the best of their ability. We organise both group and individual social events that everyone is welcome to take part in; there is a weekly outing to local places of interest, including the garden centre and the local farms, parks and museums. In addition, we enjoy regular visits from entertainers and even exotic animals. We also host events such as 'Beach Day' that relatives and friends are encouraged to participate in. Getting involved in charities is a big part of our ethos, so events such as 'PJs for Pudsey' and pirate-themed days are regularly hosted to raise money for different foundations, including the Alzheimer’s Society.

Easter Ducklings

Our residents are such proud parents this week as 3 of their 5 ducklings from https://www.incredibleeggs.co.uk/ have hatched!  Each day they have enjoyed watching the progress, from the initial tapping noises coming from the incubated eggs to their individual breakthroughs into the world.

The ducklings then live in the brooding unit, where they can be cared for by our residents and carefully handled; the love shown for these little ducklings is so beautiful to see  so rewarding and precious. I had the privilege of holding one of Pat's 'little darlings' under her expert supervision.

Carers Guitar Solo

What a gift! Carer Kevin took time-out to sit with our residents and play his guitar... It was simply beautiful #thankyou if brightened our day.

2nd Vaccination Program Starts

Today; 26th March 2021 we celebrated our residents receiving their 2nd Covid-19 vaccinations. Resident 'Rene Dent' who will be 101 years-young in just a few weeks couldn't wait to roll up her sleeve!

Big THANK YOU to Dr Ben Barker for his professional pop-up clinic within our home from the Nuffield Health Centre in Witney.

Happy 90th Birthday Beautiful 'Pat'

It was all go from the moment Pat woke up on Tuesday, with cards and presents to open, and a party organised in her honour. Staff sang happy birthday as home manager; Claire gave Pat an individual candled cake to make a wish.

Pat is such a lovely lady, full of stories and fun. Her Irish sense of humour comes through whenever it can, she’s a real ‘card’ as they say, and makes the home staff giggle on a regular basis. Pat originates from Roscommon County, Ireland as she’ll tell you, where they lived growing up; she could place one foot in Roscommon and the other in Sligo!

Her wish came true with visits throughout the morning from members of her close family in our garden visitor pod. It was such a magical day, her son; BJ (Brian) presented his mum with two photo albums full of memories which she’s not been able to put down. The final gift of the biggest smile came when her great granddaughter; Tilly-Mae woke up as leaving... it was priceless.

We managed to capture the generations in one 'socially distanced' photo; Tilly-Mae, mum Abbie and Pat’s daughter, Dee. So special 'Happy Birthday' lovely lady.

Relaxing Afternoon Movie

Now what could be better after a wonderful spa bath to sit and relax watching Yul Brynner and Ingrid Bergman in the classic 'Anastasia'... one of our lady residents thought it would be just perfect!
