Activites at Middletown Grange Care Home

A special moment at Middletown Grange as some wonderful young visitors joined our residents to paint poppies for the upcoming D-Day celebration.   

Intergenerational activities like these are more than just fun—they build connection, understanding, and joy across generations. The children brought energy and laughter, while our residents shared stories and wisdom. A beautiful reminder that when generations come together, everyone grows.   

We were thrilled to welcome Dementia Active Charity for a heart-warming sing-along session – and what an amazing time we all had! The room was filled with laughter, dancing, and the kind of energy that only music and community can bring.    

Residents, staff, and visitors joined in with big smiles and even bigger voices. It was more than just a sing-song – it was a beautiful reminder of the power of connection, joy, and shared memories. A huge thank you to Dementia Active for their incredible work supporting those living with dementia, and to everyone who helped make this session such a success. Let’s keep the music playing and the spirits high!      

Today, our residents shared sweet stories of making daisy chains as children using some reminiscing picture packs — and, of course, we had to give it a go ourselves!

Laughter, fresh air, and a little flower magic made for a beautiful afternoon.  

As part of Dementia Action Week, we brought the music, the moves, and the memories to Middletown Grange Care Home for a special Dementia Disco! 

From classic tunes to happy feet, our residents lit up the room with joy, laughter, and plenty of impressive dance moves too! Moments like these remind us just how powerful music can be — unlocking memories, lifting spirits, and bringing us all together.  

Today, our residents had the chance to take part in some relaxing arts & crafts, exploring textures, colours, and creativity at their own pace. For those who prefer something different, we offer the option to challenge themselves with brain games — keeping minds active and engaged in a way that suits them best.

At the heart of Dementia Action Week is choice, dignity, and connection — and today was all about celebrating that through meaningful, stimulating activities for everyone. Every mind matters. Every moment counts.   

Buns out, flags up! Middletown Grange threw the jolliest VE Day garden bash – sunshine, sizzling BBQ, and a lot of boogie!

Residents at Middletown Grange were delighted to welcome some very special visitors - newly hatched chicks! Watching the chicks hatch under our care and observing their growth brought smiles, curiosity, and plenty of gentle cuddles. This experience showcased the effectiveness of animal therapy. The simple presence of these fluffy little companions not only encouraged conversations but also uplifted moods and strengthened connections among everyone involved.

Middletown Grange radiated festive cheer as residents, families, and local children came together for a delightful Easter Afternoon Tea Party. Our talented chef crafted a gorgeous spread featuring exquisite cakes, delicate finger sandwiches, and a generous selection of tea, coffee, and a splash of prosecco. 

To everyone's delight, the Easter Bunny made a surprise appearance, bringing giant Easter eggs for all our residents and spreading joy throughout our home. A few local children and their parents also joined in the fun, enjoying chocolate eggs, marshmallows and the warm community spirit.

Residents at Middletown Grange had a wonderful day as the garden blossomed with music, laughter, and the delightful scent of flowers in bloom. 

With the sun shining bright and everyone in high spirits, we all came together under the beautiful pink-flowered tree to savour some lovely saxophone melodies from our entertainer, The Saxophone Man, while enjoying some scrumptious, freshly baked cake. His smooth tunes had us tapping our toes and dancing with joy!
