Activities at Middletown Grange Care Home
We aim to provide a variety of activities that will both mentally and physically stimulate the people we support. Residents have a range of different needs and interests, and it is crucial that these are reflected in the activities available, so that each individual is able to participate to the best of their ability. We organise both group and individual social events that everyone is welcome to take part in; there is a weekly outing to local places of interest, including the garden centre and the local farms, parks and museums. In addition, we enjoy regular visits from entertainers and even exotic animals. We also host events such as 'Beach Day' that relatives and friends are encouraged to participate in. Getting involved in charities is a big part of our ethos, so events such as 'PJs for Pudsey' and pirate-themed days are regularly hosted to raise money for different foundations, including the Alzheimer’s Society.

Life at Middletown Grange Care Home
World Bee Day
Our residents were buzzing when they celebrated World Bee Day today; 20th May 2021. Created by the UN, World Bee Day is an annual global event raising awareness of the importance of bees and beekeeping for the survival of our ecosystems. Three out of four food crops across the globe rely on bees and other pollinators but those pollinators are under threat from human activities.
The residents of Middletown Grange had a 'bee-rilliant' time making cornflake crispies, glued together with delicious honey! They all agreed that we should plant some more bee friendly flowers in our gardens.
Daily Living Cookery Class
Our 'daily living' cooking activity this week was an absolute joy for resident Georigo. He took charge of the pizza making having previously owned an Italian Restaurant. He sat with each of his friends and explained how thick the tomato base and cheese layer should be, giving them advise on what toppings were the favourites in his day…it really took him back to his happy place!
The sense of achievement our residents gain from participating in the weekly cookery sessions, and getting to try their creations after cooking is just wonderful to see.
Hand & Nail Pampers
What lady doesn't love a hand massage, and manicure followed by polish of your choice? Our ladies feel their outfit is quite complete without coordinating nails!
Quiz Time
Quiz time is always fun time at Middletown Grange. Our clever residents love challenging their minds. Today's winner was lovely resident 'Doreen'.
If you have a quiz sheet to share, please post the Q&A's or email Teri-Ann on Middletown.Activities@barchester.com we're always looking for exciting new questions.
Remembering VE Day
On Saturday, 8th May to remember VE Day, we spent time together reminiscing with pictures, poems and quizzes, challenging ourselves on all things from the 1940's. The arts & crafts groups painted images for our VE Day inspired display boards, before we all relaxed with afternoon Tea & Cake in the lounges; listening to wartime tunes, and watching news reels from the day's celebrations 76 years ago.
National Flower Arranging Day
Our ladies really loved today's flower arranging with Teri-Ann, the beautiful blooms were trimmed and placed in amazing colour combinations to create wonderful displays for their friends and staff to enjoy around the home. Well done ladies, they look and smell delightful.
