Activities at Middletown Grange Care Home
We aim to provide a variety of activities that will both mentally and physically stimulate the people we support. Residents have a range of different needs and interests, and it is crucial that these are reflected in the activities available, so that each individual is able to participate to the best of their ability. We organise both group and individual social events that everyone is welcome to take part in; there is a weekly outing to local places of interest, including the garden centre and the local farms, parks and museums. In addition, we enjoy regular visits from entertainers and even exotic animals. We also host events such as 'Beach Day' that relatives and friends are encouraged to participate in. Getting involved in charities is a big part of our ethos, so events such as 'PJs for Pudsey' and pirate-themed days are regularly hosted to raise money for different foundations, including the Alzheimer’s Society.

Life at Middletown Grange Care Home
Seasonal Entertainment
Residents, staff and loved ones were thoroughly entertained throughout December by some amazing performers, including a guitarist, a pianist and a saxophonist. We all loved their visits and lots of childhood memories were stirred as we all sang traditional Christmas carols together.
Pub Outing
Residents and loved ones came together to enjoy a Christmas dinner at our local pub. We enjoyed a three-course meal with plenty of bad jokes thanks to all the Christmas crackers.
Cake Decorating
Staff and residents at Middletown have been preparing for Barchester's Christmas Cake Competition. Windrush and Evenlode, our two units, each baked a cake, and we're hoping to defend our title from last year as competition winners.
St Andrew's Day
Our activities team and the Head Chef had some fun re-writing the menu for St Andrew's Day. We enjoyed haggis and Cranachan to mark the occasion.
Christmas Baking
Residents enjoyed a spot of baking on Memory Lane in preparation for Christmas.
Christmas Fête
Middletown hosted a Christmas Fête and raised £137 for Age UK with its raffle, tombola and donation-only bake sale. Residents also had a visit from Santa, who provided free photos in the grotto. Residents and families had lots of fun with mulled wine and mince pies on arrival, and browsed the lovely gifts that the County Scouts provided to help raise money for their trip to America.
