Activities at Milford House Care Home

Our residents recently enjoyed a lovely day out on the water, taking in the beautiful scenery, enjoying the fresh air and spending time together.

There were plenty of smiles, laughter and wonderful memories made along the way. It was a fantastic experience, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip!

Our residents had a fantastic day trip to Wilton House Garden Centre, enjoying a relaxing outing filled with beautiful surroundings, delicious refreshments, and great company.

They spent time exploring the colourful displays of flowers, plants, and garden accessories, taking in the sights and sharing gardening tips and memories along the way. There was plenty of laughter as everyone browsed the centre before sitting down together to enjoy a tasty lunch and refreshments.

The outing provided a wonderful opportunity to socialise, enjoy the fresh air, and make new memories outside the home. Smiles were plentiful throughout the day, and everyone returned feeling refreshed after such an enjoyable visit.

Days like these are a great way to promote wellbeing, encourage conversation, and bring joy through shared experiences. We look forward to many more adventures together!

Residents and their relatives enjoyed a fantastic afternoon in the garden, making the most of the beautiful sunshine while being entertained by the talented Dave Dawson.

There was plenty of singing, dancing and smiling as everyone joined in with the music, creating a lovely atmosphere and making special memories together.

Our residents and colleagues came together to celebrate International Nurses Day, recognising the incredible dedication, compassion and care our nurses show every single day. 
To mark the occasion and to say thank you, our talented chef prepared delicious treats and refreshments for everyone to enjoy. 
A big thank you to our nurses and all team members – you truly are the heart of our home!

A very special celebration took place as our wonderful resident, Gwen, marked her incredible 103rd birthday with a beautiful garden party surrounded by family, friends, fellow residents, and staff.

The garden was filled with laughter, music, delicious refreshments, and plenty of birthday cheer as everyone came together to celebrate this remarkable milestone. Gwen was delighted to spend the afternoon in the sunshine, enjoying the company of her loved ones and the many birthday wishes she received.

Reaching 103 years of age is an extraordinary achievement, and it was a privilege to honour Gwen with such a memorable celebration. Her warmth, kindness, and wonderful stories continue to inspire everyone around her.

From all of us, we wish Gwen a very happy 103rd birthday and many more happy moments ahead. Congratulations, Gwen!

We had a fantastic visit from ZooLab bringing a wonderful selection of fascinating creatures for us to meet up close! 
From spiders and stick insects to cockroaches, snakes and frogs, there was something to amaze, surprise and excite everyone!
The residents had the opportunity to learn lots of interesting facts, discover more about these incredible animals and, for the brave ones, even get the chance to hold some of them! 
There were plenty of big smiles, curious questions and unforgettable moments throughout the visit. 
A huge thank you to ZooLab for such an exciting and educational experience, we loved meeting all our new animal friends! 

Milford House’s celebrated their 20th Anniversary with a fantastic Summer BBQ! 
It was wonderful to see our amazing residents, their relatives, and our dedicated team come together to celebrate this special milestone. The afternoon was filled with delicious food, laughter, great company, and wonderful memories.

We were delighted to host another successful Professionals Networking Breakfast, bringing together local professionals to connect, collaborate and build meaningful relationships.

Networking is about so much more than exchanging business cards, it’s about creating opportunities, sharing knowledge, supporting one another and strengthening our local community. Every conversation has the potential to spark a new partnership, inspire fresh ideas or make a positive difference.

Residents who had been quietly reading or chatting suddenly lit up. Hands reached out, smiles spread, and the room filled with that unmistakable warmth that only animals seem to bring.
Our resident was introduced to these amazing puppies that belong to her daughter’s dog called Pickles.
They were so sweet and loving.
Even the staff couldn’t resist stealing a moment. A quick peek turned into a cuddle, and soon everyone was gathered around, sharing stories of pets they once loved and memories long tucked away.

It was simple, sweet, and utterly heart‑lifting, the kind of afternoon that reminds us why animal therapy is such a gift.

Regular visits from family members play a vital role in the wellbeing the residents. These visits help residents maintain a sense of identity, belonging, and continuity with their lives outside the care setting.

Conversations, shared memories, and simple moments together can significantly improve mood and reduce anxiety. The presence of loved ones often brings a sense of normality and dignity that enhances overall quality of life.

Family visits are not merely social occasions they are a crucial component of holistic care. Encouraging and facilitating regular visits it's an essential priority within Mifold House, supporting both emotional wellbeing and overall health.
