Activities at Milford House Care Home
The Activities Team at Milford House are dedicated to providing a range of stimulating activities for both groups and individuals, that promote both physical and mental wellbeing based upon resident's interests both past and present. As a member of the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) the team are always striving to incorporate best practice into the array of activities on offer and to enhance their own skills through qualification with NAPA to NVQ Level 3 in Activities Provision. The team combine weekly activity favourites such as sherry mornings with special events, musical entertainments, slide shows, outings in our own mini-bus as well as interacting with local community groups such as Plain Arts Salisbury to showcase resident art and creativity and others who come into the home to interact with our residents. Milford House also benefits from a strong network of volunteers who support the Activity Team as they deliver their programme and who, along with friends and relatives, are always welcome to come and join in our sessions and outings.
Gale Louw
Gale joined the Milford team in 2019, initially as a carer but has gradually transferred over to the Activities Team where she is now the full time Coordinator. Gale has a passion to create a comprehensive and inclusive programme of vibrant events for residents, family
members and friends to enjoy and, along with the rest of team, ensure that each resident is able to participate in meaningful activities tailored to their likes and dislikes.
Originally from South Africa, when not at work Gale loves nothing more than exploring the UK, catching up with family and friends, being creative across a variety of disciplines and keeping her eyes out for great activities and events she can bring back to the home for
residents to enjoy.

Life at Milford House Care Home
Care Home Open Day
It was a bright and sunny day as we threw open our doors for Care Home Open Day, which was perfect, as our theme for the day, and for the next three weeks, is the garden.
We had a very busy day and visitors enjoyed live entertainment from the Choir of Pitton School, who sang for us in the morning; music and songs from Sophie in the afternoon and, for those who wanted, a tour of the wonderful gardens to complete our ‘Treasures of the Gardens Trail’.
As it was a very warm day, residents retired to the shade for a well-earned ice lolly to rehydrate and relax. It was a perfect day!
Flower Power
We've been celebrating Flower Week here at Milford and we have been making and doing all things ‘flowery’ as a result. Residents made a lovely flower bouquet to compliment our flower mirror. Everyone was so pleased with the result that we have decided to make some more. Flower power rules!
Pretty Plates
Here at Milford, we are gearing up for three weeks of celebrations featuring our lovely gardens, which will culminate in our Summer Fete on July 9th.
We focused on garden thoughts; we found lots of quotes that captured how we felt about our garden, printed and mounted them on to paper plates and decorated them. The results – which we think look great and are really colourful – have been used to surround the mirror in our conservatory.
Shady Bower
Here at Milford, we are really fortunate to have wonderful gardens that surround the home. There is something for everyone, even when the temperature rises! Recently, we found a shady spot under the Indian Bean Tree and next to the fernery, where we were able to relax and enjoy a cup of tea and watch the comings and goings at the front of the home. It was a perfect summer's afternoon!
Policing the Aisles
Here at Milford, we try to get out every week for a bit of shopping and a cup of tea or coffee. As it was one of the windiest June days for years, we visited a local superstore and one resident spotted a police officer walking the aisles, who stopped for a friendly chat.
Employee of the Month - May
We are delighted to announce that Milford House's Employee of the month for May was Liang Guo, pictured here receiving his award from our General Manager, Phil Chapman. Liang is a valued member of our Housekeeping Team and has been at Milford for 10 years this month. Liang was nominated for his award for consistently providing a high quality of domestic services around the home and for always going the extra mile when undertaking his duties. He received a certificate and a voucher to celebrate this achievement.
