Activities at Milford House Care Home

The Activities Team at Milford House are dedicated to providing a range of stimulating activities for both groups and individuals, that promote both physical and mental wellbeing based upon resident's interests both past and present. As a member of the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) the team are always striving to incorporate best practice into the array of activities on offer and to enhance their own skills through qualification with NAPA to NVQ Level 3 in Activities Provision. The team combine weekly activity favourites such as sherry mornings with special events, musical entertainments, slide shows, outings in our own mini-bus as well as interacting with local community groups such as Plain Arts Salisbury to showcase resident art and creativity and others who come into the home to interact with our residents. Milford House also benefits from a strong network of volunteers who support the Activity Team as they deliver their programme and who, along with friends and relatives, are always welcome to come and join in our sessions and outings.

Gale Louw

Activity Coordinator

Gale joined the Milford team in 2019, initially as a carer but has gradually transferred over to the Activities Team where she is now the full time Coordinator. Gale has a passion to create a comprehensive and inclusive programme of vibrant events for residents, family
members and friends to enjoy and, along with the rest of team, ensure that each resident is able to participate in meaningful activities tailored to their likes and dislikes.

Originally from South Africa, when not at work Gale loves nothing more than exploring the UK, catching up with family and friends, being creative across a variety of disciplines and keeping her eyes out for great activities and events she can bring back to the home for
residents to enjoy.

Life at Milford House Care Home

We are 'Alive!'

We are 'Alive!'

Residents at Milford House enjoyed a thoroughly interactive hour of fun with Paul and Malcolm from ‘Alive!’ The hour incorporated music, movement, quizzes, poems and a lot more, and this activity is a firm favourite with those we support. ‘Alive!’ have been coming to Milford monthly for over 7 years to deliver these sessions, which are something we all really look forward to.

Shining Through the Gloom

Shining Through the Gloom

A dull and wet January afternoon was brightened to no end by the presence of Amanda who came in to sing for residents. Amanda is one of our favourite entertainers and, adorning her gorgeous, flowery dress, she had everyone clapping and singing along to her repertoire of familiar and favourite songs. We can’t wait for her to come back again!

Marvellous Music

Marvellous Music

Residents were delighted to welcome a new musician to the roster of those who play at the Home. David came highly recommended, and lived up to his reputation and looks set to become a firm Milford favourite. He performed a broad spectrum of music, which encompassed familiar songs that everyone could sing along to as well as some beautiful classical favourites which had everyone listening. spellbound. A great afternoon which garnered great feedback from everyone who attended.

Blooming Lovely

Blooming Lovely

Residents, visitors and staff at Milford House are enjoying the fruits of labour; we planted some Amaryllis bulbs back in November 2016 and they are all now gradually starting to come out, so we are enjoying placing them around the home to brighten up our winter days. There are a range of colours and sizes and we are enjoying seeing each one reveal itself in all its glory.
