Activities at Newton House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Nutrition and Hydration

We have been promoting nutrition & hydration with our yummy hydration station. Fruit kebabs, a variety of refreshing cold drinks and some delicious ice cream, made its way around the Watergate community. Both residents and staff enjoyed a taste sensation and they loved the ice cream to cool them down on another warm day. Our hydration station will be making its way around the home each day, it is a wonderful activity for inclusion and ensuring that residents are hydrated & enjoying sensory based activity.

Enjoying the sunshine, before it gets too hot, with fun seated exercise with the fabulous Dani. Residents enjoyed their weekly keep fit session, exercising along to some of their favourite songs. Pam said “it was great to loosen off, I feel so much more better now” There were smiles all around and we finished of the session with lots of cold drinks to keep hydrated.

The ladies thoroughly enjoyed a bus trip to Belton Garden Centre this morning. Looking at the beautiful flowers and enjoying a tasty scone & hot drink. A perfect way to start the weekend & celebrate national cream tea day. Whilst we were out, residents at home enjoyed 1-1 well-being visits with Amanda.

Garden Party

We’ve had a fantastic afternoon, with live music from the fabulous Steve Carmel. With such beautiful weather, it was lovely to get the residents outdoors to enjoy it! Lots of delicious ice creams, sweets & snacks was eaten, and lots of singing and dancing! We certainly know how to party at Newton House!

Giving something back to our fabulous community

As a thank you to our wonderful local Scouts & Cubs, last night we hosted a garden party to say thank you for all of their hard work in our Somerby communal garden. They had a fabulous time playing games, making full use of our very own beach area, and some delicious snacks. It was beautiful to see the children engaging with our lovely residents and having fun.

Visit to Wyndham

We are most definitely making the most of this beautiful weather, and todays first trip of the day was a lovely visit to Wyndham Park. Resident Pat said “it feels like we’ve been on a mini holiday” We enjoyed a lovely walk around, reminiscing about when they were children and visiting the park. Allen used to go swimming there when he was a young boy and Beryl’s father grew up in one of the lovely houses that backs onto the river. Along our way we, we met lots of lovely people, who were out either children and dogs. A delicious Ice cream and a go on the race boats, finished the trip of nicely
