Activities at Newton House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Bus Trip to St Wulfram's Church

The residents have enjoyed a bus trip out to St Wulfram's Church to see the fallen Angels display.

Mrs N really wanted to visit the church after she had seen an article in the Grantham Journal, and she wasn’t disappointed!

The Angels were absolutely incredible and just beautifully displayed.

The residents also lit a candle to remember their loved ones and said a prayer. It was a very heartwarming and sentimental trip.

As always it was also full of laughter and joy. Mrs N spoke about St Micheal, we were asking her questions about him and asked who St Micheal was….

Resident Mike quickly said “ it’s me on a good day”.

Christmas Preparations

Residents have enjoyed decorating the outdoor Christmas tree in preparation for our Christmas light switch on this Friday at Newton House.

We got wrapped up and sang Christmas songs together, it was just wonderful.

Winter Wonderland

A fabulous but cold afternoon today watching our beautiful Christmas lights being switched on at Newton House.

This Christmas is planned to be the best festivities we have ever seen, with a jam packed Christmas calendar, and making up for the Christmas that never was…. last year due to covid!

Our aim is that each year our outdoor wonderland will grow, and become a splendid spectacular for residents to enjoy with their care team and family and also for our community to visit.

Residents wrapped up warm and enjoyed nice hot chocolate with melted marshmallows and a selection of home baked mince pies and cupcakes.

Flower Arranging

It was a fun morning of getting creative with flower arranging on our wonderful Watergate community.

Residents enjoyed making their own arrangements and enjoyed talking about past experiences.

Mrs W spoke about when she visited a flower show with a friend, and how clever the lady was, who delivered a class on this topic.

Equine Therapy

Residents were overwhelmed today with a surprise visit from Alfie & Pinocchio, the stunningly beautiful therapy horses, and their little ray of sunshine friend, Jemma, the incredible puppy. They brought happy tears & smiles to our stunned residents.

Mrs M. couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw the puppy come through the doors, followed by the therapy horses.
