Activities at Newton House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Furry friends and happy hearts!

We were absolutely delighted to welcome back our furry friends from Michelle's Animal Therapy & Petting Party.

Residents couldn’t wait to get cuddles from Diego the chihuahua, Mitzi the shitzhu, Boots the cat, Oakley the rabbit, and many more friends! It’s always such a pleasure seeing the animals and our hearts are full from seeing how much joy their visits bring to our wonderful residents.

The beautiful animals visited residents around the home and made some very beautiful and precious memories to those nursed in bed.

We carried on the animal theme throughout the day with an afternoon of virtual horse racing. Residents gathered in the coffee lounge to place their bets, and Brian ended up taking the trophy with the most winnings.

Not only did the beautiful Joan celebrate her very special 90th birthday, but in the same week she celebrated her granddon's special day as he married the woman of his dreams.

Starting the day in style, Joan enjoyed a delicious glass of wine whilst being pampered and preparing for the special day ahead.

It was a beautiful scenic drive to the most stunning venue and Joan enjoyed the most spectacular day!

On behalf of Newton House, we would like to say huge congratulations to the newlyweds, and wish them all the love and happiness as they embark on marital life.

We love being able to make dreams come true for our residents at Newton House and ensure that they get to celebrate life every day.

The Story Of Boots Memory Box

We were delighted when the wonderful Michelle, from our local Boots store visited us with their beautiful memory box.

Boots, have been working with Victoria Tischler, Professor of Behavioural Science at the University of Surrey, to develop a project in care homes providing items from the Boots Archive to stimulate interesting discussions and promote positive feelings.

The use of visual prompts to stimulate good conversations is encouraged by the Social Care Institute for Excellence.

The items were inspired by shopping trips to Boots over the years, and include many things that our residents may have been in contact with at different points in their lives.

We have really enjoyed using this wonderfully created resource over recent weeks and are extremely grateful to have been chosen to share this with residents living at Newton House.

Listening to beautiful stories and sharing their experiences and memories has been simply wonderful.

Visiting Grantham Art Gallery

Ladies from Newton House ventured out on the minibus to our local Art Gallery, to explore some of the fabulous work by the amazing artists in our town.

The ladies couldn’t believe what incredible work was showcased there, and Jean said “everywhere that you look, something different captures your eye.” It was wonderful to see the ladies enjoying browsing the gallery before sitting down to enjoy refreshments, an introductory demonstration to crochet and a good old natter!

We would like to say a huge thank you for your great hospitality, and we are looking forward to visiting again. Whilst we were busy at the Gallery, our fabulous residents at Newton House enjoyed their weekly game of bingo! The fun just never ends!

Roll up…roll up and welcome to a circus spectacular!

What a fun & fabulous way to start the week with a circus-themed day at Newton House! Residents joined together for a morning of fancy dress, hook a duck, ball games and lots more as the circus celebrations began.

After the circus games, we delved into the Oomph Wellness ‘A trip to the circus’ activity pack, which was filled with fun activities, word searches and puzzles! To complete our circus-themed day, after lunch, residents sat back and relaxed to watch ‘The Greatest Showman’ and, of course, it’s not a proper movie matinée without some delicious popcorn!

Our themed events always bring so much joy and excitement across the home and, of course, lots of laughs at our fancy dress!

What a deliciously sweet way to start a brand new week at Newton House, celebrating the most scrumptious day on the calendar, ‘world chocolate day’!

Residents enjoyed a fun game of ‘Blind fold chocolate tasting’ and it’s fair to say they definitely know their chocolate!

With Maltesers being the most popular, and surprising to some the bounty came a close second.

Of course, we had to try a few first to make sure that they were ok!

A huge thankyou to the Barchester media team, for supplying the yummy chocolates! A prize for our award winning story on Facebook with our beautiful Vonnys dream.

The chocolates went down a treat as we enjoyed such a tasty themed activity!

Welcoming the most incredibly talented duo KJ & The Catt, for an afternoon of partying & laughter. Their person centred approach always warms our hearts, as does seeing just how much our amazing residents love their visits.

In true Newton House style, it wasn’t long before residents were moving and grooving & celebrating life!

It was so wonderful to see our fabulous care team join in the fun & really enjoy the atmosphere.
