Activites at Rose Lodge Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Jane Ritchie
Head of Activities
Hello, my name is Jane and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Rose Lodge and I have been here since 2010 .
My role is to engage and stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. I want to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.
Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that I am passionate about, It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we do with them. We enjoy creating new and special memories together.
Celebrating life at Rose Lodge Care Home
Memories and Mocktails
Residents enjoyed the morning making their very own mocktails. Mocktails can provide a fun and engaging activity, promote hydration, and offer a delicious taste.
The residents enjoyed trying lots of different mocktails - our resident gave each mocktail they had made a name. A popular one was Sunshine Beach. While drinking our mocktail, we all enjoyed some breadsticks. The conversation also flowed, and we chatted away about all the holidays we had been on.

Dementia Disco
Rose Lodge dusted off their dancing shoes, leg warmers and glowsticks for the launch of their new Dementia Disco initiative which will take place very aptly during Dementia Action Week.
Knowing how much their residents living with dementia love to dance and sing, the activities team at Rose Lodge care home came up with the genius idea of a dementia-friendly disco. Life enrichment lead Jane Ritchie said “Everyone has had so much fun today, to see residents smiling, dancing and waving their glow sticks was magical. Its so lovely to have fun and have a boogey”

National Donut Week
Residents and staff at Rose Lodge marked National Donut Week with a kind gesture from the Tesco store on Cromwell Road in Wisbech. In the spirit of community and thanks Tesco Community Champion, Julie came to the home laden with beautiful sweet treats for everyone.
The home was also joined by local financial planner Donna Powell from APS Legal & Associates, who was on hand to discuss financial planning including wills, probate and power of attorney.

Community Legal Event
Our home recently welcomed Donna Powell associate from APS Legal and Associates to speak to the local community about the importance of having a will and Lasting Powers of Attorney in place.
Donna offered free consultations to review existing wills and provide guidance on creating new ones and making LPAs.
We're so grateful for Donna's time and expertise and we look forward to welcoming her back soon.
VE Day 80 Celebrations
Rose Lodge marked the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day in style by throwing a 1940s afternoon tea party to remember. The home was decorated in red, white and blue and residents and staff dressed up in their 1940s-inspired glad rags and enjoyed an afternoon of big band music and dancing.
Head chef Dianne Lilley whipped up a delicious selection of freshly-baked biscuits, sandwiches, cakes and pastries for the occasion, all washed down with pots of tea and a celebratory glass of fizz to mark the occasion.

Long Service Award
Our lead activities coordinator has received a prestigious Long Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 15 years.
Jane started at Barchester in May 2010 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.
Adele Keenan, Employee Services Director at Barchester said: “I’m always pleased to hear stories about the long service of Barchester staff and am delighted Jane has achieved this milestone. It is dedication like this that ensures our residents are provided with a happy place to live.”

Guide Dog Community Information Event
Our home recently welcomed back three very special guests: Gill Southgate, her husband Paul, and Gill's beautiful 4-year-old Guide Dog, Adelaide. Gill, a representative of the Guide Dogs UK association, delivered an inspiring and insightful seminar about the guide dogs that have supported her throughout her life, their training process, and the vital work of the guide dog association.
She also provided a captivating perspective on advancements in artificial intelligence aimed at assisting individuals who are blind or partially sighted. Her current companion, Adelaide, is a wonderful listener, deeply affectionate, loyal, and dependable, earning admiration wherever she goes. It is safe to say that Adelaide left her audience utterly charmed.

National Gardening Week
National Garden Week is 28th April to 4th May and to celebrate this our residents enjoyed a spot of flower arranging.
Alice, Betty and Elizabeth chose their flowers and took great care to arrange them beautifully in vases, which are now proudly displayed around our home.
Flower arranging offers multiple benefits, including stimulating creativity, promoting relaxation, and engaging cognitive skills.
It also provides social opportunities, improves fine motor skills, and enriches the environment. Additionally, flower arranging can help residents connect with nature and express themselves through art. As well as enabling residents to be creative and use their imagination, it also encourages use of fingers and hands and is a great stress reliever, promoting a calm atmosphere.
Tea-rrific Afternoon of Tea Tasting
Staff and residents at the home were treated to a delicious tea tasting masterclass hosted by Katharine Parsons, Clipper Tea’s ambassador and all-round tea guru.
Residents joined Katharine on a journey all about Clipper tea - from how they started, to where they are today, why their teas are Natural, Fair and Delicious with some tea and infusion tastings along the way.
Katharine started off her talk with a tutored tasting of several different teas including Clipper’s Classic Fairtrade Black Tea, then a Green Tea followed by two different fruit infusions – Lemon & Ginger and Berry Burst which the residents really enjoyed.
