Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home

Reindeer Visit

We had a lovely visit from two of Santa’s special reindeers, they went and visited all of our residents and gave them an early Christmas present. They were helped by their tiny Santa in training along with Fern, the service dog. Karsten and Hayley had asked local businesses for donations so he could take gifts around to the local care homes.

We are lucky Karsten’s father staying with us at Rothsay Grange Care Home in Weyhill, who also helped hand out the gifts. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Karsten and his lovely family and these that donated all the lovely gifts and to brought joy and happiness to our residents.

Christmas Party

On Thursday 12th December we had Cosmic Sparkle here to entertain us at our Christmas party. We all enjoyed a buffet of party food which Debbie (Head Chef) and Simon (Second chef) prepared. As always the tea was flowing.

In the morning the residents made eggnog this went down a treat! Friends and family of the home said they felt in a festive mood and are feeling ready for Christmas now.

10 Years Rothsay Grange

Rothsay Grange turned 10 years on 20th November, happy birthday Rothsay Grange. We had an awesome day of fun and games through out. Our dedicated chef Debbie made us a spread fit for a queen. She also made a very lush birthday cake.

We had friends and family of the home to help celebrate our big day. Very special guest from the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Test Valley.

To entertain us we had the Andover Belly Dancers and then  Chris Kimber took over making balloon models for all that wanted them. They ranged from a lady with a very cheeky bottom to animals, flowers and crowns, he also made EW very happy by making a balloon baby.

We also had one of our lovely senior care staff who has been here from the very start Emily Davis pictured with the Mayor and Deputy.

Jessica Salway the manager of the home  said that it has been a fantastic day, we have all had fun and are now worn out by the day’s events we will all sleep well tonight and thank you all for coming and sharing our big day with us we all look forward to our next birthday party next year.

Little Visitors

Zalna, who is 12 years old, gave the residents a little show of her ballet moves. The residents were very impressed with the young lady that they have asked her to come back in December.

We are all looking forward to this. Please call the home on 01264 772898 If you would like to join us so we can give you date and time.

The New Forest

On 10th October we had a lovely mystery trip to The New Forest, where we enjoyed a picnic. We see lots of ponies and cattle and even got a bit lost, but that’s the fun of a mystery trip!

Tropical Day with Dave

We had a lovely tropical-themed day here at Rothsay Grange with a fruity platter, homemade lemonade and ginger beer. Dave Dawson came to sing for us and some of our residents also joined in.
