Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home

A Generous Donation

Rothsay Grange received this very kind donation from our local TK Maxx branch here in Andover. The bags were filled with delicious treats for our hard working, dedicated team here at Rothsay Grange. We would like to pass on our gratitude for being considered at this time of uncertainty, and hope everyone stays safe and well.

Rosebourne Garden Centre

On Monday 9th March, Rothsay Grange residents was taken on a trip to Rosebourne Garden Centre and met up with our sister home, Milford House. We enjoyed a lovely lunch together and then took a slow stroll around the shop. One of the residents enjoyed it so much that they asked their family to take them out on the weekend to have another lush lunch. We had a look at the Easter display and reminisced about how different Easter is now to how it was in their childhoods.

Pancake Day with Vigo School

On the 25th February we had Vigo School here to have pancakes all with different topping alongside some tea! Everyone was tucking in and we played some games.

Happy Birthday!

We had a young man’s birthday celebration here at Rothsay Grange, who turned 90 years young. He celebrated with his family and friends and the whole home was able to pop in to wish him well.

The wonderful chefs here put on a spread fit for a king. They had a very special dancer for him as well. The party was not to late but the residents all slept very well. They all partied on into the night staff, residents and family all having fun.

The Mary Rose

On 27th January, residents from Rothsay Grange had a minibus trip to see the Mary Rose in Portsmouth.

It all started out dry with a little bit of sun, but by the time we got there it was cold and we, but we had a short walk to the docks and a nice lift up to the building holding all the Mary Rose's secrets.

We explored the ship wreck, saw lots of shoes, goblets knives that had been found in and around the wreck. As it was all in the news and on the TV in the 80s, we all knew a little about the wreck; what we did not know was about the poor dog that also lost its life and went down with the ship.

The residents enjoyed the trip along with a very nice snack and, of course, a good ol' cuppa.

Cheese & Wine Evening

On January 23rd, we all enjoyed a cheese and wine evening. We were able to try many different wines, and they all went down very well. We also made some Buck's Fizz.

Everyone enjoyed the different cheeses that our onsite chefs made. There were some very yummy cheese boards, so we could all enjoy a taste.

One of the nurses, Tina, made up a mixture of cracker, butter, brie, jam and a grape—and wow it was amazing!

We had a standing room only for this event with visitors, friends and family that came to enjoy some fun. Later on in the evening, the Tidworth Military Wive's Choir sang some very beautiful songs, and one of them brought us to tear. The wives are very talented and we all had a great time. We can’t wait to have them return!
