Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Christmas Delight

The family of a resident wanted to bring Christmas to her this year, so they brought festive treats and mulled wine to Rothsay Grange for all to enjoy. We pulled crackers and sang Christmas songs as well.

On the 14th December we welcomed back the fabulous Dave Dawson to get us all in a Christmassy mood. He sang us lots of different songs from rock n roll and Christmas carols. The residents and staff joining in with songs and dancing as Dave always brings his spare mic. As you can see Helen is rocking it! The residents enjoyed the cups of tea and homemade cakes made by Dean and Terry.

The Balloon Man

On 2nd November, we were joined by Chris Kimber, an excellent balloon artist. He made lots of balloon animals, flowers and objects. Residents had great fun and loved all the things he made.

Halloween Celebrations

Halloween Celebrations

We hosted a spooky Halloween event at Rothsay Grange on 31st October. The home was decked out in themed decorations that would send chill down the spines of even the bravest of people, with spiders, rats and cobwebs adorning the walls of the home.

Residents loved the food that was served and the drinks that washed it all down. We even had themed games, which everyone really enjoyed. The entertainment was very scary: it was firm favourite, Dave Dawson, all dressed up for the occasion.

The afternoon was a big hit with everyone who attended!

A Typical Day at Rothsay

A Typical Day at Rothsay

We had a great afternoon on 24th October. Our onsite chef made some delicious cakes and we had tea on tap. We were also joined by Debbie, who sang non-stop for an hour. Debbie is new to the home and is standing in for Joe, as he is off sick – and what a performance she put on! Her voice was just like an angel. One of our staff members members had a little dance, which brought a huge smile to her face.

We all had a great afternoon and can't wait so see Debbie again in December, so if you'd like to join us, please call the home and let us know, so we can ask for extra cake and mince pies!

On 20th October, we had our much-loved Gary Roman performing as Elvis at Rothsay Grange's open day. As always, Gary was a great hit with the Ladies! One resident even got up and danced with him. Everyone enjoyed our homemade cakes and tea as well.
