Activities at Rothsay Grange Care Home

The activities coordinators at Rothsay Grange work 7 days a week to ensure there is a variety of planned group and one to one activities to suit all individual needs. The activities consist of weekly running activities such as chair zumba, Music therapy, an Arts club and many more. We also run a weekly minibus trip to local places of interest giving everyone a chance to have a trip out of the home.

Rothsay Grange also knows how to have a good old tea party alongside some fantastic entertainers and productions that visit the home on a regular basis. Irene and Aimee feel its very important to have the residents that live here to have a fun and fulfilled life and encourage them to attend as many activities as they wish.

Irene & Leah

Activities Coordinators

Irene and Leah have been working together since 2019, and thoroughly enjoy planning and providing activities for our residents. They are a great team and always bring joy and fun to wherever they are in the home.

Leah has worked at Rothsay since she was 16, as an apprentice carer, and has worked her way into a position that she loves.

Irene has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable adults and children, and also started working here as a care assistant several years ago, before moving on to senior carer and then into the activities coordinator role.

Both love seeing the way that residents' lives are enriched with the activities they provide, and love interacting with all the residents in our care.

Life at Rothsay Grange Care Home

National Gardening Week

National Gardening Week

For National Gardening Week (30th – 6th May), Rothsay Grange came up with some different garden-themed activities. On 30th April, we made paper flowers, on 1st May, we went out to buy some plants, on 2nd May, we planted up the planters and tubs, and on 3rd May, we made more paper flowers, but put them in pots to decorate our rooms with.

For the Love of Music

For the Love of Music

On 10th May, we welcomed back to Rothsay Grange firm favourite, Cosmic Sparkle. This time, she brought along an up-and-coming singer who needed to build his confidence up. He will soon be making his mark on Barchester homes, and we all look forward to that day. Well done, Robyn, for taking him under your wing.

The afternoon went so fast, as we were all singing along, clapping our hands and tapping those toes. As always, Cosmic gave us a great afternoon and we look forward to seeing them again on 5th June. If you would like to come along, please do so! You won’t regret it.

Sewing Club

Sewing Club

25th April was sewing afternoon and, although not a lot of people attended, it was a laugh trying to get the cotton through the eye for starters. We ended up making some beautiful brooches with the help of a good ol' cuppa tea and some biscuits.

St George's Day

23rd April saw Rothsay Grange slay the dragon in style in recognition of St George's Day.

This day was celebrated by making flags in the morning and then with the fantastic Paul Nicolas. Paul’s voice just makes you want to hear more and takes you away into dream land. He sang good ol' Elvis songs, Cliff Richards and some well-loved classics.

Open Day

Saturday 21st April saw Rothsay Grange getting ready for, not only our second open day of the year, but also for the Queen’s birthday.

We at Rothsay Grange love nothing more than a good old knees-up, so a party was in order. The room was decked out with Union Jacks and the cakes were iced red, white & blue. Even staff, residents and families dressed up for the ocassion.

With the room and food set, we all waited for George & Ginger to arrive. They were both dressed in army outfits and sang a variety of songs, with residents singing along too.

The afternoon was a smash hit with everyone; even some of the families that came to look around stayed for the afternoon and said they had a wonderful time.

Rothsay Grange is always open to visitors, so if you’re ever passing, please feel free to stop by. We will be happy to meet you and show off our wonderful home from home.

Karaoke Comeback

Karaoke Comeback

On the afternoon of 20th April, we welcomed back Graham, who was on top form, and residents had a great time singing along to all the songs. Graham performed a good variety of songs and we even got a go on the second microphone!
