Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home
On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.
Zoe Aldea
Hi, my name is Zoe and I am the Activities Lead at Wadhurst Manor.
I used to work with veterans for the Royal British Legion, and as an Art Studio Lead for a wonderful charity that built a village for people with learning disabilities.
I believe in the healing power of art, I feel strongly about building confidence and the wellness of our residents. My hobbies include Asian art and philosophy, acupuncture, yoga and martial arts. I believe art is a bridge that unites everyone no matter the race, beliefs or religion.

Life at Wadhurst Manor Care Home
South Farm Stables
Residents all said they had a wonderful time when we went for afternoon tea in the garden at South Farm Stables. We were shown a selection of animals, with the highlight being Pixie the pony. We saw a British and American kestrel, dogs, cats and a chucker Owl. We would all like to thank June Spencer for making us feel so welcome.
Animal House
Petpals brought in some chickens recently, much to the delight of residents. Many residents talked about having chickens when they were younger and collecting the eggs.
Wyevale Garden Centre
Some residents from Memory Lane enjoyed an afternoon out at Wyevale Garden Centre. We looked around the plants and shrubs and talked about their gardens. We then had tea and cakes in the coffee shop and, of course, we had to have some ice cream. Then we chose an orchid to give to another resident for their birthday.
August Open Day
We had another fantastic afternoon of singing through the decades with Rick Bonner, who brought his saxophone with him. It was a great day and everyone who attended had a wonderful time!
For the Love of Music
What a wonderful afternoon of singing and dancing we had when Jon McDevitt returned to sing and play guitar for us. There was a great selection of songs and a few favourites requested from Buddy Hollie and Elvis.
Scotney Castle
What a lovely afternoon we had walking round the walled garden at Scotney Castle, which was followed by a picnic in the garden. The weather was lovely, with the sun shining bright, and there was just enough of a cool breeze so that we weren't too hot. The afternoon was topped off with ice creams all round.
