Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home
On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.
Zoe Aldea
Hi, my name is Zoe and I am the Activities Lead at Wadhurst Manor.
I used to work with veterans for the Royal British Legion, and as an Art Studio Lead for a wonderful charity that built a village for people with learning disabilities.
I believe in the healing power of art, I feel strongly about building confidence and the wellness of our residents. My hobbies include Asian art and philosophy, acupuncture, yoga and martial arts. I believe art is a bridge that unites everyone no matter the race, beliefs or religion.

Life at Wadhurst Manor Care Home
Baking Buns
We had a great afternoon making buns ready for afternoon tea.
Marco the Magician
We had a lovely afternoon with Marco the Magician. Despite several residents trying very hard to see how the tricks were done, he managed to amaze us all. The highlight of the afternoon was when he conjured up Tom the rabbit. Residents all enjoyed stroking him, even those who had not made it to the show.
Art Exhibition
Residents at Wadhurst Manor had such a great time at the local art gallery and talked about it so much that we had to organise another trip! We were looked after so well and met so many friends of the home that it turned into a real social. Members of our art group were inspired; it will be interesting to see what they come up with during our next arts & crafts session.
Musical Magic
Residents and visitors enjoyed a wonderful cello performance from Joanna Powell. It was a really lovely afternoon that was rounded off with some singing.
Grandparents Day
To celebrate Grandparents Day, we were joined by comedy juggler and magician, Stuart Clark, who put on quite a performance. Everyone got involved with the plate spinning and enjoyed the balloon modeling especially.
Sandwich Making
Residents had a great time making sandwiches for their supper. Some of them could not wait to taste their creations. It also brought about a lot of conversation about making sandwiches for their children or for picnics in the park. Some residents were very artistic and enjoyed making use of all the colours.
