Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.

Zoe Aldea

Activities Lead

Hi, my name is Zoe and I am the Activities Lead at Wadhurst Manor.

I used to work with veterans for the Royal British Legion, and as an Art Studio Lead for a wonderful charity that built a village for people with learning disabilities.

I believe in the healing power of art, I feel strongly about building confidence and  the wellness of our residents. My hobbies include Asian art and philosophy, acupuncture, yoga and martial arts. I believe art is a bridge that unites everyone no matter the race, beliefs or religion.

Life at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

,

Pet Pals

Residents had a wonderful time playing with some beautiful kittens brought in by Pet Pals. For many it brought back memories of their own cats and kittens and sparked a lot of conversation and reminiscing.

,

When the Oak Spoke

Wadhurst Manor residents attended the launch event of Wadhurst Culture’s Woodland Web project, ‘When the Oak spoke’. It was a wonderful family day and the visual arts project celebrated Wadhurst's Trees. Wadhurst Manor has been lucky enough to have been a part of the project from the beginning, with Beccy coming in and running workshops with residents on the Elderly Frail and Memory Lane units.

Ball Games Allowed

Ball Games Allowed

We had several relatives join us for fun with the beach ball. There was a lot of smiling and laughter going on and we managed not to break anything, which is always a plus.

, ,

Green Fingers All Round

Residents enjoyed a trip to the local garden centre to plan out what to put in the raised beds and hanging baskets.

,

Tee Time

A few ex-golfers enjoyed an afternoon in the sun and a friendly game on our putting green. It was a lovely afternoon, although the ground was not wonderfully even, but this only added to the fun!

Good Vibrations

We had another successful visit from Ryan, who hosted an afternoon of music therapy. Several residents joined others on our Memory Lane community to celebrate Dementia Awareness Week. There was lots of singing and dancing, and one resident even remembered some of her old drumming abilities.
