Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.

Zoe Aldea

Activities Lead

Hi, my name is Zoe and I am the Activities Lead at Wadhurst Manor.

I used to work with veterans for the Royal British Legion, and as an Art Studio Lead for a wonderful charity that built a village for people with learning disabilities.

I believe in the healing power of art, I feel strongly about building confidence and  the wellness of our residents. My hobbies include Asian art and philosophy, acupuncture, yoga and martial arts. I believe art is a bridge that unites everyone no matter the race, beliefs or religion.

For the Love of Music

For the Love of Music

What a wonderful afternoon of singing and dancing we had when Jon McDevitt returned to sing and play guitar for us. There was a great selection of songs and a few favourites requested from Buddy Hollie and Elvis.

Scotney Castle

What a lovely afternoon we had walking round the walled garden at Scotney Castle, which was followed by a picnic in the garden. The weather was lovely, with the sun shining bright, and there was just enough of a cool breeze so that we weren't too hot. The afternoon was topped off with ice creams all round.

Picnic on the Common

With the weather getting hotter, we decided to enjoy a picnic on Tunbridge Wells Common, followed by a well-deserved ice-cream in Sainsbury’s whilst a few residents did a bit of shopping.

Elvis Lives!

Elvis Lives!

What a brilliant afternoon we had with Elvis tribute singer, Gary King. The coffee Lounge was packed with residents, relatives, friends and staff who all joined in singing and chair dancing. The kitchen team provided us with doughnuts and milkshakes to help the afternoon go with a swing. There were a lot of smiling faces when Elvis posed for pictures afterwards.

Flower Power

Flower Power

Our recent flower arranging session was a great success, with some amazing displays being made. Even the men joined in!

Animal House

Animal House

Petpals came to visit again and residents and staff all fell in love with Bailey the pony. He was a definite hit with everyone, and even travelled up in the lift to visit some residents who were less mobile.
