Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.

Zoe Aldea

Activities Lead

Hi, my name is Zoe and I am the Activities Lead at Wadhurst Manor.

I used to work with veterans for the Royal British Legion, and as an Art Studio Lead for a wonderful charity that built a village for people with learning disabilities.

I believe in the healing power of art, I feel strongly about building confidence and  the wellness of our residents. My hobbies include Asian art and philosophy, acupuncture, yoga and martial arts. I believe art is a bridge that unites everyone no matter the race, beliefs or religion.

Christmas Quiz

Thank you to all the families who joined us for our Christmas quiz and a big congratulations to Mac Scott and his family on winning the trophy!

Christmas Staff Pantomime

Christmas Staff Pantomime

Any excuse to dress up! Residents had many a laugh when the staff at Wadhurst Manor put on a performance of Cinderella! It was a version written to incorporate some of the residents' favourite songs and had a lot of hilarious costume changes. There was even a role for Ronnie the dog! Resident. Marion, wowed everyone with a duet, whilst Pattie and Pat helped out with the dancing.

Christmas Meal

Thank you to the Mark Cross Inn for looking after us so well when 17 residents went out for Christmas lunch. Another thank you has to go out to Dudwell St Mary for lending us their mini bus, and Pawel on the laundry team for helping to drive us all there. It was a great team effort and I think everyone enjoyed it; even the sun decided to shine for us, although it was pretty cold.

Christmas Jumper Day

Christmas Jumper Day

Even Ronnie the dog joined in on Christmas Jumper Day!

Duck Pals

Duck Pals

Petpals brought in some ducks to entertain us. There were many laughs as they splashed around in their makeshift pond.

Christmas Creations

We had a busy afternoon making Christmas decorations to hang on our doors. We were joined by residents, friends, family members and some of our volunteers for a very productive afternoon. The final count was over 35! A big well done and thank you to everyone.
