Activities at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

On a weekly basis we have many visitors to the home from the people like the University of the Third age and local small animal farms, who bring in their chickens and sheep. We also like to go out shopping and on day trips to local garden centres and when the weather is good picnics and tours of the beautiful local countryside. We have speciality days at the home which could be a theme of a country, or for specific times of year, including Halloween, Bonfire Night or Christmas. We have card games and art classes and a serious knitting team in the home who produce blankets and premature baby clothes for the local maternity unit.

Zoe Aldea

Activities Lead

Hi, my name is Zoe and I am the Activities Lead at Wadhurst Manor.

I used to work with veterans for the Royal British Legion, and as an Art Studio Lead for a wonderful charity that built a village for people with learning disabilities.

I believe in the healing power of art, I feel strongly about building confidence and  the wellness of our residents. My hobbies include Asian art and philosophy, acupuncture, yoga and martial arts. I believe art is a bridge that unites everyone no matter the race, beliefs or religion.

Life at Wadhurst Manor Care Home

,

Drum Workshop

Wadhurst Manor residents were treated to an afternoon of fun when musician, Jo, came in with over 20 drums. After a short talk and demonstration the fun began; residents tapped out rhythms together and also listened to and recalled different beats.

,

Burns Night

Despite a slight hitch in our Burns Night celebrations, they turned out to be our best yet, with Robbie Burns' poems been read out by residents and guests alike. Everyone then joined in with a toast before tucking into haggis, neeps and tatties, which were washed down with a wee dram of whiskey, followed by some Scottish dancing.

Alpaco Band

Alpaco Band

We always love a good song and dance and the Alpaco Band always proves very popular. We even got everyone joining in with what has become our home anthem: 'Sweet Caroline'.

School Concert

School concerts are always a firm favourite and Stonegate School did not disappoint us when they came in to sing the songs from their Christmas concert. The theme of their concert was Christmas songs from around the world.

Afterwards, Marian presented the children with one of our very popular sweetie rings and the children split into groups to chat with residents. Marian sang 'I Could Have Danced All Night' and Pat taught them a short dance routine.

It was a great success and they promised to come back and visit us in the new year.

,

New Year's Day Tea Dance

There were lots of smiles, laughter, singing and dancing along to Brian Howard, who was on keyboard and vocals. It was a lovely atmosphere, helped along by a drop of Prosecco!

The Wolfes of Wadhurst

The Wolfes of Wadhurst

We were treated to a wonderful performance by local family, the Wolfes. They played us a wonderful variety of classical tunes on guitar and violin, including some Christmas songs and several family favourites.
