Activites at The Warren Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Here at The Warren, our activities team are always very busy thinking of new ways to keep residents active, both physically and mentally. We have regular trips out in the minibus, both locally and further a field, including the London Eye and the Thames River Trip), at least once a week during the summer months. We also enjoy visits from PAT dogs and have professional exercise sessions and live entertainment, which are always popular.

Read our brochure ‘Life-enriching activities’ for more information about life in our care homes.

Kirstie Bush
Activities Coordinator
My name is Kirstie and I am lucky enough to be the Activities Coordinator here at The Warren.
I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities and leisure and lifestyle roles.
I love being part of The Warren team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the importance of residents' input into our weekly planner is important giving all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous interests and hobbies.
Celebrating life at The Warren Care Home
Entertainment from The Accordion Man
We all had a jolly good time with The Accordion Man, such a talent!! Our residents sung a long, swayed in time, clapped and just had the best time.
The Accordion man goes down so well when he entertains us, he’s just one of our many fantastic entertainers that we put on for our residents.
Norfolk Broads Boat Trip
Another fantastic trip on the Norfolk Broads with the Nancy Oldfield Trust.
We started off by seeing a duck and her gorgeous babies, not 1 but 2 Herons, some beautiful river-side properties all tied in with a picnic, sunshine and a wonderful relaxing river trip.
One resident said "I'm 94 and have lived in Norfolk all my life, but I have never been on the broads." She absolutely had the best time. She was so engaged with everything that was around and soaked it all up like a Sponge...
"I had the best day, thank you," were her parting words when she left the minibus.
National Cheese Day
What better way to celebrate National Cheese Day but to hold a cheese, wine and Charcuterie afternoon in the garden for residents and their families?
With a selection of Brie, Stilton, Wensleydale and good old-fashioned cheddar you can't go wrong, all served with crackers, butter, red onion chutney, grapes and a selection of cold meats....wonderful. The wine was flowing, and the garden was busy with chatter with family.
Trip to the cat cafe!
Pussy cats and Coffee today - What a happy combination!!
This morning we spent at The Cat House - Cat Lounge & Arts Centre - Norwich . It was amazing. This was such a wonderful experience and the residents loved it. So many beautiful cats and not enough time to love them all. We met hairy cats, hairless cats, sporty cats, funny cats, chilled cats, cute cuddly cats, and one that would steal your cake if you weren't looking!!
And they were all gorgeous. Thank you to Sarah and her team for making us feel so welcome.
Oh we do like to be beside the seaside!
Great Yarmouth Seafront at its best..... We came, we ate, we conquered the Seaside
We ate fish and chips, we had ice cream, we looked at the beach in the sunshine, and we played the 2p machines...what else is there to do in Great Yarmouth hey!! A wonderful time was had by all.
Live Musical Theatre Day!
If we can’t get to the theatre, The Warren will make the Theatre come to you.
We have so many residents who love live theatre and musicals, so what better way to entertain them by hiring Clearer productions who gave us a morning of live musical entertainment.
This brought so much joy to our residents, many who enjoyed singing along to the familiar West End songs!
Messing about on the river and the Norfolk Broads
We had a wonderful trip on the Norfolk Broads. We found a boat company that had accessible boats, so our residents with less mobility than others could also enjoy this amazing trip. It was great, the weather was perfect, we took a picnic and our own tea and coffee to make on board.
The nature we saw was great. One lady used to go bird watching with her husband, so her decision to do this again just made her day. She educated us about the Kingfisher and told us that their feathers changed colour in the light, and they are normally all black.
Intergenerational Morning
Today we had a fantastic intergenerational session with Debutots and Once Upon A Time Nursery School. All I can say is....just look at the faces of our residents and the children!! Nothing but happiness, fun and laughter.
They played, they listened to a story, the coloured in and the interaction with the residents was just amazing.
Trip to meet Paddington!
Norwich city trip and Paddington, of course!!! After we saw that Norwich had gained a Paddington statue, we couldn't wait to visit him. He's an all-round favourite and he sparked so many great memories.
Reading the books to their children, watching the cartoons with the kids and even his new films with grandkids too.
So when we got to meet him in person… we were all delighted!! We started our day with a coffee at Bread Source, a walk around the cloisters, the meeting of the infamous Bear, followed by lunch and then a walk down memory lane in Looses. We found an old jukebox, and I'm surprised they didn't ask us to leave as we sang nearly all the songs we found there. We had great fun.
