Activities at Waterside Court Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Pearl as our voice of the residents at Waterside Court.  As our resident ambassador Pearl will be on hand to welcome all new residents and update them on life within our beautiful home.

Pearl loves to spend her time in the reception area or chatting amongst other residents, she always has a wonderful warm smile on her face and loves to be part of the team.

Gardening Togetherness

This week some of our lovely residents and their families have enjoyed planting some brightly coloured flowers in to our high standing plant boxes. Our respite resident also volunteered his daughter to assist with some weeding.

BECOME A VOLUNTEER - Your time could make a real difference at Waterside Court. If you have a particular skill - such as singing, crafts or yoga - which you want to use to improve the lives of others. You may prefer to offer companionship to residents and come along regularly to sit and chat with people who may not usually receive frequent visitors.

Trying Something New

Our lovely respite resident showed some of us how to play a card game called Whist. Home Services Advisor; Rachel had never played before but was up for the challenge.

Having been beaten several times over, at Whist and Dominos poor Rachel has gone home to see if she can improve her skills for the mornings rematch!

Celebrating World Cocktail Day

World Cocktail Day is a global celebration of cocktails, it marks the publication date of the first definition of a cocktail on May 13 in 1806.

To mark the day, residents had so much fun taking park in shaking their own cocktails. Our resident ambassador was full of smiles as she pushed the trolley. Cheers everyone!

VE Day Celebrations

Our residents had a lot of fun Saturday 7th May when we celebrated VE Day. The day started off with making some decorations followed by two performers!

We had a lovely set performed by Fiona Harrison - A Voice in a Million who came dressed in full ATS uniform and performed some amazing songs from the 1940's upwards.

Later on in the afternoon Julie Hunt - Care Home Entertainer who raised the energy with a lively rock n roll set. Julie had lots of our residents up and toes tapping.
