Activities at Westgate House Care Home

Our role in the home is fundamental to ensuring that our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. We strive to provide a stimulating, creative & varied range of activities & events in the home, which everyone can enjoy whether they prefer social group engagement or one to one interaction. Residents choice is what we aim to provide to the best of our abilities. We enjoy being creative, sharing projects and discussing with our residents the kind of activities they would like to enjoy. Both indoor and outdoor activities are offered to cater for all tastes as well as regular outings to local places of interest.

Culture Day

We love to celebrate our similarities as well as our differences here at Westgate House. We have over 30 different nationalities who enjoy living and working together.

Staff and residents enjoyed our Culture Day food tasting session, where they got to try out various dishes from places all over the world.

It was a wonderful day for all!

Touch Quilt from South Korea

Muna Burham came to Westgate House many years ago when her school choir was invited to sing for us. Muna never forgot her visit, even after she became a teacher years laters and went overseas to work at the Daegu Global Education Centre in Daegu, South Korea. Muna asked her pupils to make a touch quilt for the residents of the home, which they can be seen holding above. We can't wait for it to arrive!

Barchester's 25th Anniversary

This delicious cake was baked by our very own volunteer, Valerie, to celebrate Barchester's 25th anniversary.

Our Darts Champions

Our Darts Champions

Darts is a very popular game at Westgate House, so we held a tournament, where the highest scorers were given a medal. Rose, who used to be on a ladies darts team, won gold, Elini came second (it was her first ever game) and Ola came third.
