Activities at Westgate House Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Our role in the home is fundamental to ensuring that our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. We strive to provide a stimulating, creative & varied range of activities & events in the home, which everyone can enjoy whether they prefer social group engagement or one to one interaction. Residents choice is what we aim to provide to the best of our abilities. We enjoy being creative, sharing projects and discussing with our residents the kind of activities they would like to enjoy. Both indoor and outdoor activities are offered to cater for all tastes as well as regular outings to local places of interest.

Celebrating life at Westgate House Care Home
Trip to the Stables!
This week we had a fantastic mini-bus trip to the horse-riding stables!
It was lovely for residents to be able to stroke and interact with the horses: Rita, Milo, Katie and Candy.
Even though we did have a funny moment when horse, Gucci, sneezed not once but twice, great therapy for all the residents!
George's Birthday!
Congratulations to a wonderful gentleman, George, on his special birthday.
George enjoyed his party with live entertainer, Brandon, singing George's favourite songs.
Family, residents and staff also surprised him with a birthday cake and candles. The icing on the cake was that George received his 100th birthday card from King Charles!
Community Day
Our day out in the community was fantastic!
We were invited to Forest Gate School for an afternoon Christmas tea party. Residents enjoyed homemade food by staff and pupils, including a selection of sandwiches, savoury selections, sweet delights and hot beverages.
Residents had a game of bingo where they won prizes and enjoyed the live Steel Band by pupils playing Christmas music, they had great talent!
To round it off we also received Christmas presents form Santa!

Windchimes
At Westgate House our residents were busy creating colourful wind chimes.
They were the perfect special Christmas gift for a family member or friend.
Residents were so happy with the end of the result, that some of them decided to keep them for themselves and hang them up in their rooms!
Cubs Visit
Cubs came to visit for the first time at Westgate house and brought homemade delicious cupcakes and gift bags with chocolate treats inside.
Residents had a fun and engaging time with the cubs playing ball games.
We look forward to your next visit to Westgate house!
Big thank you to your Cub leaders too!

Here at Westgate house we are delighted and pleased of the delivery of our very own brand new Digital Rainbow Table for everyone to enjoy, in the communal lounges and in the comfort of their own room, it is truly magical, fun using the different apps!
Macmillan Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning
Big Macmillan Coffee Morning and Pudding Club. Bringing two amazing events together! We enjoyed a selection of cakes, and of course some great coffee! We like to support this charity. It touches all of our hearts as we all know someone that has been affected. Eating cake is a great way to aid a worthy cause!

Cultural Day
We had a great party in the garden to celebrate culture day .The home had a vast diversity working and living at Westgate. The aim of the day was to promote cultural awareness, understanding and appreciation by showcasing the diverse traditions, languages and foods. The day included live Entertainment by Cliff Jones, who sings music from around the world, including reggae. The sharing of cultural music is a fantastic way to communicate and promote understanding, staff dressed in their traditional dress and paraded their traditional attire during the afternoon . Residents learnt about the importance of cultures , traditions and traditional dress. There was dishes from India,Caribbean, Philippines,Nigeria and Gambia . Each dish had a variety of flavouring , spices , aroma and smells to tantalize the taste buds .
Shopping And Pub Lunch
This week some of our residents opted for a bit of retail therapy.
With the weather on our side and support from our dedicated Activities Team, residents enjoyed perusing the latest high street fashions before popping into one of our local pubs for lunch and a couple of drinks.
Supporting residents to enjoy outings, shopping, meals out and other trips is a key aspect of the weekly activities calendar.
