Activities at Woodside House Care Home
Activities at Woodside House
Our activities team deliver a wide variety of mentally and physically stimulating activities and events for those we support, including coffee afternoons, which we hold every month for the local community, regular outings in our minibus, and visits from entertainers and musicians. Monthly resident meetings help us to ensure that those living here are getting the most out of our activities programme, and that our social events reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible. From growing our own vegetables to making giant paper-mâché animals, there is always something fun going on at Woodside House.

Sam Lake
Activities Coordinator
My name is Sam and I lead our Activities Team at Woodside House.
I have been at Woodside House since 2004 and I love it here. I am responsible for ensuring that the residents are able to participate in sociable, fun and rewarding activities. My team and I are very passionate about our work and love putting smiles on the residents' faces.
We involve the residents in the planning of our activity calendars and encourage residents to continue with the hobbies that they have enjoyed throughout their lives. We will support every resident to try new things and we love learning from our residents every day.
Celebrating life at Woodside House Care Home
Mini donkey visit
Here at Woodside, we welcomed back the fantastic miniature donkey for well-being. We had a gathering in the atrium and went room to room for those that couldn’t join us.
It never fails to bring surprise and smiles along with a lot of comfort and joy. We can’t bring all the smiling faces to you, but believe us when we say that taking a donkey bedside is something amazing to be part of.
Lambs on tours
We had a lovely visit by lambs on tour. We learnt a lot and cuddled, stroked and bottle-fed orphaned lambs.
Staff went room to room and saw so many surprised and happy faces! Pet therapy is the best. We have all had an amazing morning.
VE Day celebrations
We celebrated the VE day 80th anniversary with our very own street party with a fantastic buffet!
We had Victoria sponges, clotted cream, jam, and to finish off we had a live singer. The staff also really got into the spirit.
Easter Cake!
Here at Woodside House, it was a group effort to make our Easter cake this year.
It really was all hands on deck, we also found time to make our own Easter bonnets too!
Easter Fair!
Here at Woodside we enjoyed hosting an Easter fair, where we had face painting, stalls and lots of fun.
As you can see from the picture, we liked to go outside on the grounds and watch the children doing an Easter egg hunt!
Crazy Hat Day!
For Day 5 of spirit week, we decided to have a crazy hat day here at Woodside!
Everyone had such a laugh!
Smoothie Making!
During Nutrition and Hydration week here at Woodside, we had a wonderful time making a variety of smoothies!
We created a colourful selection of smoothies, all made with fresh and frozen fruit - these were enjoyed by all!
Nutrition and Hydration Week
For nutrition and hydration week, we had a beautiful selection of all sorts of sweet and savoury treats!
These were cooked and prepared by our catering department here at Woodside, and everything went down a treat!
Nail Day!
One of the activities here at Woodside House, which is a favourite, is having Katie, our Gel nails technician, come to visit.
We love to be able to keep in contact with the community and love being able to remain independent.
