Activities at Woodside House Care Home

Activities at Woodside House

Our activities team deliver a wide variety of mentally and physically stimulating activities and events for those we support, including coffee afternoons, which we hold every month for the local community, regular outings in our minibus, and visits from entertainers and musicians. Monthly resident meetings help us to ensure that those living here are getting the most out of our activities programme, and that our social events reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible. From growing our own vegetables to making giant paper-mâché animals, there is always something fun going on at Woodside House.

Sam Lake

Activities Coordinator

My name is Sam and I lead our Activities Team at Woodside House.

I have been at Woodside House since 2004 and I love it here. I am responsible for ensuring that the residents are able to participate in sociable, fun and rewarding activities. My team and I are very passionate about our work and love putting smiles on the residents' faces.

We involve the residents in the planning of our activity calendars and encourage residents to continue with the hobbies that they have enjoyed throughout their lives. We will support every resident to try new things and we love learning from our residents every day.

Hot Chocolate Tasting Session

Residents responded well to the Hot Chocolate session, which was loved by all here at Woodside house. The residents were able to choose what they wanted on top of their hot chocolates and to taste different flavours. There was laughter all around the home.

Donkey Visit

We enjoyed a lovely visit from the mini donks. Residents helped feed the donkeys and taking them for a walk around the garden for a toilet time. Everyone enjoyed the activity.

Local Primary School Visits Woodside

We have yet again had a lovely after school visit from our local primary school. Residents enjoyed the visit and had a great time with the children.

Christmas Fun

Everyone is in the Christmas spirit here at Woodside House!

Vintage Christmas Tree

We asked residents how we should decorate our Christmas tree, and they responded with 'things that remind us of the past', so now we have a vintage Christmas tree here at Woodside.

Local School Visited Woodside

Team members and residents at Woodside House Care Home in Norwich spent an afternoon together with the local community. A local primary school visited Woodside House for their afternoon school club where the residents were able to enjoy the company of the children, and to take part in their arts and crafts activity.

Everyone had fun during this intergenerational session and organised the school to visit the home on a regular bases throughout the year.
