"A particular member of staff helped me take my mother-in-law to the hospital. She was fantastic, professional, caring, loving and forward-thinking. I can never thank her enough, keep up the good work."

"My sister was sent from hospital to Woodside House Care Home and I was very impressed with this care home. The staff are very good with the residents and, as far as I can see, make them feel at home and comfortable. I've seen a few care homes in Leicester and Market Harborough, but not a patch on this one."

"During the past month my mother has really settled into the home and it’s a relief to see her so content and comfortable. All of the staff we interact with are approachable, efficient and very caring. Communication could be a problem with situations like ours but the team has gone out of the way to keep us informed of what is happening. Nursing care is very good and any possible problems are observed and well attended to (for example my mum’s sore lip which needed treatment). One thing we would appreciate, but realise the post covid situation has been an impact, is more church or spiritual activity as we’d been led to understand this was a key element of the care when selecting a home. We accept this may also be dependent on the interaction of the local clergy rather than the home. On the whole extremely happy and impressed."

"My mother had therapy at Barchester Woodside House Care Home for six months. It was all quite excellent. They were all extremely loving, there was so much to do, and they helped her become better so she could be discharged. They were completely satisfactory, to us. It's lovely and extremely nice. Everything was neat, clean, and in order. There was nothing that didn't seem excellent."

"My overall stay has been extremely beneficial and helpful in my overall recovery from my operation. After the initial blip, I have had great treatment from all quarters of the care home. Hopefully, I won't need another "hip" operation, but I would definitely be back!"

"My stepmother of 97 was wheelchair-bound when she became a resident. She was disabled and wheelchair-bound. A very determined character trying to keep her independence but needing help. She gradually accepted this from the attentive carers and settled well. Within 4 weeks her pacemaker failed and she became bedbound. The care she received in the final weeks was second to none. All the staff from management to nursing staff and carers were cheerful, kind, and sympathetic. The home was bright, clean, tidy and the atmosphere calm and friendly. I would like to express my thanks to the staff and cannot praise them enough."

"Woodside House is a lovely home and my mum was very well cared for during her two years there. The whole staff team are excellent, very friendly and welcoming to our family. The staff are very caring and professional in their roles and obviously care greatly for their residents, respecting their wishes. It is an excellent environment, the rooms are spacious and there are activities arranged if they wish to participate. Overall it was the best home we looked at and are so pleased we choose it for our mum."

"I stayed here for three weeks after a time in hospital. The facilities were comfortable and adequate. The food was overall very good, varied and tasty. The staff were very helpful and provided as much assistance as you required. As I got stronger I required less assistance and the staff hen respected my privacy. There was entertainment provided and I did attend the remembrance concert which was very good. Overall, highly recommended for a short or long stay."

"The care given by the staff is exceptional, they treat the resident with great dignity. The events team include the resident whenever it's possible which stimulates the resident. The nursing staff keep me informed if needs be. The care/nursing home is very clean and the food is good, when it's hard to meet everyone's requirements everyone is very kind to me and respects me if I have any questions."

"Woodside Care Home has restored my faith in carers. Since both my parents came to live here, they have improved so much. The care is exceptional, the manager is so understanding and caring. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. They are amazing. It was a hard decision to make moving my parents into a care home but Woodside has made this the best decision. We can never thank them enough. The entertainment is also fantastic."

"My inlaws have been here for one week, and the difference in them is incredible. They are more alert, happy, not confused or agitated. The staff are fabulous, caring and helpful. They now enjoy the garden, home-cooked food, seeing the family. We are so pleased and now do not worry all the time that our parents are being properly cared for. Well done to all the staff at this amazing care home."

"I was kept regularly informed of my wife's well-being during lockdown, but of course, visits were spasmodic, to say the least. This was not of the homes doing, I fully accept. Unfortunately, the arrival and very quick spread of Covid at the turn of the year resulted in many deaths, my wife included. It was clear that the home did struggle with this outbreak and communication with certainly myself could have been better, and certainly more professional and empathetic, despite the very difficult circumstances. I have tried on a number of occasions to contact the home to volunteer, and to ask about a memorial for those residents who lost their lives due to Covid, especially in early 2021, and have been brushed off repeatedly. This is a real shame, as I do believe that my wife was well cared for during her stay of nearly a year at the home, and am a little disillusioned with their current inaction."

"My mother and father had been residents for a respite period of 3 weeks and hoping to be residents. Unfortunately, my father passed away on his 6th day in Woodside House and my mother then requested to return to her home. Their 6 days were wonderful for them both. Total 100% care which I couldn't fault in any way. The staff are amazing across the board, nothing was too much trouble at all. Woodside House staff were nothing but professional throughout my parents 6 days. Aided me and my mother when father passed away in his room in the early hours. Just couldn't ask for more!"

"Barchester Woodside House Care Home is amazing, everything I hoped elderly care could be. Mum has been here three years and the care has been amazing. The staff are super and turnover of staff is very low. Activity staff offer a variety of activities and are a lot of fun. The manager is responsive and caring and my mum visits her room often. Only thing Mum doesn't like is the food."

"A super care home. I knew from my very first visit that I wanted my husband to be cared for here. Staff are fantastic, from management, admin, nursing staff, carers, in fact, just everyone. I was always greeted by any member of staff that I met on my frequent visits. It's just like one happy family. The run up to Christmas was a very special time, with loads of activities for all to get involved in. The home looked so pretty too, with numerous Christmas trees and decorations, groups of school children entertaining the residents with their singing. It was wonderful. The staff were so caring and compassionate when my husband was at end of life, they treated him with love, very attentive, always making sure he was comfortable. They looked after us brilliantly, as a family, during this sad time, nothing we asked for was too much trouble. I will always be grateful for their care and dedication. My experience at Barchester Woodside House Care Home has been exceptional, they are a credit to the Barchester group."

"The admin assistant always offers a warm welcome with a big smile. She is the first port of call as you arrive. She is always there for us and at times I need a big hug. In fact, all of the staff are exceptional, all mixing different roles so that they can cover each other. Always with a 'hello' when I see them. Unfortunately, my Dad is bedridden and he cannot join in on any activities, due to lack of mobility and Alzheimer's. We visit him every day, just so we're around him and when I know I can't be there, I know he is well looked after. My Mum also had a stay following a half knee op and the staff were exceptional during this time too."

"Me and my brother needed to find a care home for our pops. With hearing so many negative comments, this was a concern. However, as soon as we walked into Woodside, it felt the right place, warm and friendly. Our pops soon arrived, and he soon settled in and received the best care we could have imagined. The staff from housekeeping to management were amazing. We had full support from staff, who couldn't do enough for us. Pops was happy at Woodside, and it was home-from-home for us too. Coming into friendly faces at difficult times really helped us as a family. Unfortunately, Pops passed, and again, the staff went above and beyond with their support. I cannot recommend Woodside enough. Thank you, Woodside, our forever family."

"My wish was to have a lovely afternoon tea. Barchester Woodside House Care Home arranged for us to go to a hotel. I invited four other residents and we have had such a lovely time. Staff came and drove us round to also see the city, it was lovely. I want to thank Woodside for giving us such lovely treats and outings, it really keeps us young and helps keep our brains active."

"All staff are very kind, helpful, caring and do their very best to make life as enjoyable as possible. Get a warm welcome when you go in. They have a lovely garden to sit in and patio area. Do lovely activities for residents and are encouraged to join in. It is lovely that they bring animals in so residents can pet and hold. They do nice trips out for the residents and have entertainment put on. They have a room where they can have their hair done, also have a chiropodist that comes in. They do morning coffee and afternoon tea with biscuits and cakes. Communal rooms, such as the dining room and lounges, are very pleasant and very clean throughout the home."

"I took a friend to see Mum recently (the friend has a father at a care home in Dorset) and she said what a lovely atmosphere Barchester Woodside House Care Home has. I put this down to the fact everyone is so friendly, from kitchen staff, laundry ladies, office staff, manager and most importantly, carers and trained staff. Well done Woodside."

It's a beautiful feeling knowing my husband is so well cared for each and every day. Thank you all at Woodside. I would not hesitate to recommend Woodside to anybody needing such specialist care. "I came here for six days respite after an operation. My husband has Alzheimer’s and dementia so he is in another home for two weeks. I go home today. I have been into lots of care homes in past years as part of my work, and my husband going in while I get some respite. This care home has opened my eyes to how good a place can be as the staff, care, feeling of happiness spread around. Activities, food are all absolutely the best. I am 77 years old and still very active and mobile and hope to be for years yet. Definitely happy to know a place so good as Woodside House is available to people who when older need care. I have found the residents here have a good life and look after the more vulnerable because they themselves feel secure. Such a lovely experience to have spent this time here and know all the horror stories you hear about care homes certainly is not true of this place. I can honestly say the care staff in every role I have had dealings with here have been the best."

"My mother suffered a stroke back in May 2023 and while in hospital was diagnosed with advanced dementia. Since my mother was transferred to Woodside my family and I would say that my mother’s quality of life has shown improvement. When I visit I am able to see my mother’s charts and from these, I can witness firsthand the increase in my mother’s food and fluid intake. This is because shortly after being transferred, Woodside identified and agreed with a local service a need to purée my mother's food and to add thickener to her fluids to allow for this. I am also impressed with the professionalism of ALL of the staff. All of the main nurses know my wife and I by name and if they need to make us aware of anything will actively seek us out while we are visiting. I cannot recommend Woodside any higher in all aspects of my mother's care and to go further I would thank Woodside for giving my family and me a little longer with my mother due to the improvement we have seen in the quality of her life."

"Having been moved here from hospital until the paperwork for my new care home is completed, I have been very surprised having not, in my 85 years, had to call on such services. Many thanks for making this transfer as good as it can be. I have found the staff very friendly."

"The care my parents received at Woodside House for dementia and general nursing needs was of such excellence that I have continued as a volunteer in the home since their deaths, playing the piano and enjoying music with residents each week. As 'part of the furniture' I quietly continue to see management structures, natural teamwork and genuine compassion which encourage and enable residents and staff to reach out to each other, despite advanced dementia. Life is worth living at Woodside and this is the care I would wish for myself. Clearly, I can no longer comment on all the questions below (rooms, security, value for money) and so have ticked 'good'. My opinion of the food is strongly influenced by the wonderful tiny cakes offered to residents and visitors - especially the brownies!"

"Our mum has dementia and she is in the dementia unit where she's looked after well. She enjoys the food. We know not to worry because she is safe more than being at home. Her recliner chair helps her not to fall. Thanks to the staff for her care you all do an amazing job. Well done to the manager on "good" from CQC."

"A good nursing home. The staff are kind and attentive. The home is clean and seems to be run efficiently. There is enough staff. There is a pleasant atmosphere in the home with a choice for the resident of how much time they spend with others and how much in their room, my wife is happy here."
