Golf tournament raises £9k for Barchester's Charitable Foundation
A charity golf tournament, hosted at Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club on the Jurassic Coast, has raised more than £9,000 for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation.
The event took place from the 30th September to the 1st October and saw keen golfers from Barchester and their suppliers continue the spirit of the Ryder Cup in their own charity tournament.
A charity dinner was held at the golf club after the last day of the action-packed event where everyone applauded as the winners of the tournament were announced. An exciting charity auction raised over £3,000 of the total amount.
Barchester’s Charitable Foundation supports older people and adults with physical or mental disabilities to gain increased independence and lead dignified and fulfilling lives. The money raised will enable the Foundation to help even more individuals across the UK who could benefit hugely from a charitable grant.
Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club hosted the two-day tournament and have also selected Barchester’s Charitable Foundation to be their ‘Charity of the Year’ for 2014.
Phil Dowell, Captain of the Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club, said: “We chose Barchester’s Charitable Foundation to be our charity of the year as they are not well known in West Dorset and I hoped to publicise the fantastic work they do while raising funds to help them. With grants going straight to where they are needed, the Foundation takes direct action to help individuals gain increased personal independence and dignity.”
Mike Parsons, Chairman of Barchester’s Charitable Foundation, said: "We are very excited to have been chosen as charity of the year by Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club. This is a first for us and a great endorsement of the charitable work we do. We are immensely thankful for their support, and the money raised will make a huge difference to all the people we help."
