Oulton Park Care Home Celebrates 'Good' CQC Rating
Staff and residents were celebrating at Oulton Park Care Home on Union Lane in Oulton after passing a recent Care Quality Commission inspection with an overall ‘Good’ rating and being praised for operating a safe, responsive and well-led service.
The CQC inspected the home on 20th January 2022 and rated the home, run by Barchester Healthcare, as ‘Good’ in all three areas of the inspection – safe, responsive and well-led. The report stated that a new management team was now in place at the home and that they had made significant changes across all areas of the service provision. Staff teams were very complimentary about the home’s new General Manager, Sarah Wright, citing the positive improvements and supportive culture she has instilled.
Also highlighted in the report was that people were well looked after and that staff were caring, kind and knew residents well. The report found that improvements had been made to home’s décor, especially in the Memory Lane dementia community where the environment had been made more stimulating, and an increase in staffing meant more activities could be scheduled and more time could be spent engaging with each of the residents.
The report found that personalised care plans were in place based on each person’s preferences and interests with improved communication methods so that residents were able to choose and voice their opinions. The report concluded that the new manager was very visible within the service and clearly had a good relationship with staff, relatives and residents.
Along with local MP, Peter Aldous, Barchester Healthcare’s CEO, Dr Pete Calveley, and Managing Director, Lorna Rose, visited the home on April 7th to congratulate every member of staff and present them all with £100 gift card each to thank them for their commitment and dedication. Lorna commented: “I couldn’t be prouder of everyone here at Oulton Park, they are a fantastic tight-knit team who support one another and provide wonderful care to our residents. They are proof that teamwork makes the dream work.”
Sarah Wright, General Manager at Oulton Park Care Home said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Oulton Park has achieved a ‘Good’ rating following the CQC’s most recent inspection. It is fantastic to have the hard work and dedication of everyone here recognised. It has been difficult for everyone in the care sector to get through the pandemic but we have all pulled together to support each other and everyone has worked incredibly hard. I can honestly say the whole team at Oulton Park has risen to the challenge and we will continue to do so!”
Commenting on the home’s recent refurbishment, Mr Aldous said: “I am very pleased to see the progress that has been made since last year and I look forward to visiting again in the summer for the home’s summer fete.”
