Barchester doubles up at Skills for Care Accolades

Barchester Healthcare has been awarded the prestigious title of ‘Winner of Winners’ at this year’s Skills for Care Accolades.

The care provider was awarded for its pioneering work supporting adult social care Apprenticeships and also received a second accolade of 'Best employer support for Apprenticeships’.

To achieve one of these accolades proves an organisation has been successful in improving the lives of people who use social care services through workforce development and demonstrates a commitment to innovation. 

Sharon Allen, CEO of Skills for Care, said: “Barchester Healthcare won the Winner of Winners award for their outstanding work in developing the skills and knowledge of their apprentices across England.

“Barchester was one of the first companies to develop an Apprenticeship programme that has changed the lives of their apprentices, and has also generously given their time to help develop the sector’s successful Apprenticeship programmes that have delivered more than 60,000 apprentices across England.”  

Terry Tucker, Director of Learning and Organisational Development at Barchester Healthcare, said: "What a fantastic couple of weeks we've had. First of all Barchester made the Sunday Times 25 Best Big Companies with high scores for our learning and development programme and now we've had huge levels of recognition from our sector skills council for our commitment to providing an outstanding apprenticeship programme and overall contribution to the sector."

The awards were presented by Glen Mason, Director for Social Care Leadership and Performance, Department of Health and the ceremony took place at Park Plaza Victoria, London. Some of the other winners at the prestigious event included Social Care Solutions, Jewish Care and Friendship care and Housing.
