Barchester Healthcare makes a meal of Nutrition and Hydration Week
Care provider, Barchester Healthcare is celebrating National Nutrition and Hydration Week (16th to 22nd March) with wholesome food and thirst quenching beverages.
Care workers at Barchester homes always team up with hospitality staff to ensure each resident’s dietary requirements and care needs are met. Increasing knowledge of the importance of nutrition and hydration among residents and staff is something that is key to maintaining and improving a person’s wellbeing.
During Nutrition and Hydration Week, Barchester homes across the country will host afternoon tea parties where guests and residents will be served a range of delicious and healthy snacks suitable for all diets. They will also be focusing on specific catering topics throughout the week, such as puréed food and fortified meals.
Barchester homes hold monthly nutrition meetings and the March meetings will take place during Nutrition and Hydration week. These meetings involve catering and care teams and are an important part of Barchester’s strategy to maintain their high food standards.
Rob Burcher, Hospitality Operations Manager at Barchester Healthcare said: “Nutrition and Hydration Week is an important week for the care industry and we are encouraging every Barchester home to get involved in order to increase awareness and help maintain our current high food standards.
“Barchester Healthcare has an expanding portfolio of care homes across the UK, all of which strive towards the same high quality food standards, and we are always looking for talented new chefs who share our values to join the team.”
