Barchester makes Sunday Times 25 Best Big Companies to Work for 2014
National care home provider, Barchester Healthcare, appears in the Sunday Times 25 Best Big Companies to Work for list 2014 for the sixth time and is still the only care provider in the listing.
The results were announced at an event hosted by BBC Breakfast Presenter Kate Silverton and were listed in yesterday’s Sunday Times.
The accolade was voted for by Barchester staff, completing anonymous questionnaires distributed at random. The company employs more than 17,000 people and provides high-quality personalised care for more than 10,000 people in over 200 locations across the UK.
The breakdown of the results showed Barchester 23rd overall with particularly strong scores in personal growth, where the company was ranked 12th. This growth is driven by its in-house business school, which offers a huge choice of learning and development opportunities. In addition, 69 percent of staff believe that the training they receive is a great benefit to them personally, giving this area a top ten score.
Terry Tucker, Director for Learning, Organisational Development and Hospitality at Barchester Healthcare, said: “Barchester is proud to deliver person-centred care for the people we support and to offer our teams real benefits and career choices in return for their dedication. Creating an environment like ours means employing and developing caring people who love their job. This is the foundation for the best possible care and generates a truly positive living and working atmosphere.â€
