A rip-roaring time awaits Barchester excellence winners at Lions Awards

Two exceptional Barchester employees have each been awarded a ‘City & Guilds Medal for Excellence Award’ and will attend the prestigious Lions Awards ceremony later this spring where they could scoop even more accolades.

Rosemary Horne, a care assistant from Southerndown care home in Chipping Norton has been commended for her outstanding performance in Health and Social care and Kate Mansfield-Loynes, Head of Learning and Development Academy, has also been singled out for her outstanding contribution to the Education and Training sector.

Rosemary came on board in October 2007 and has been recognised for her outstanding performance in the Health and Social Care sector.  Rosemary has recently completed her Level 3 Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care and has been dedicated from start to finish. On the job training has really benefitted Rosemary and she has been able to gain a nationally recognised qualification while working at Southerndown care home.

Kate joined the Barchester Learning and Development Team in September 2001 and has introduced a wide range of recognised training qualifications to the company, including programmes for trainers the ‘Certificate in Training in the Lifelong Learning Sector’. This not only provides a basis to promote the superb training that Barchester is proud of but also encourages a career pathway for trainers within the company.

Paul Middleton, Head of Vocational Qualifications at Barchester, said: “It is marvellous to hear that two of our employees have been successful this year. At Barchester we focus on delivering outstanding training opportunities by investing in our employees’ development. We are committed to constantly improving social care by building qualifications for staff at all levels, from induction programmes to Masters.”

Both medallists are now shortlisted for the Lions Award and also go through to the People’s Choice Award, which is voted for on the City & Guilds dedicated micro site. Kate and Rosemary will celebrate their achievements at the Lions Awards in March at The Roundhouse, London.

Mark Kite, Contract and Development Manager at Barchester has also been invited to attend to represent Barchester for its outstanding commitment to training.
