Visit a Barchester home this National Care Home Open Day
On Friday 19th and Saturday 20th June, many Barchester homes will be throwing open their doors and welcoming people from the community to join in with their National Care Home Open Day celebrations.
These free events are open to the public and are a chance for those living at Barchester homes to get to meet their neighbours while offering anyone interested in visiting a home, a chance to find out what life is really like there.
Care Home Open Day was launched in 2013 and is celebrated by lots of care homes across the country. This year’s theme is ‘The Arts’ and many homes have been getting creative in their planning for Care Home Open Day 2015.
Here are just some of the events happening in our homes:
- Austen House in Lower Earley will be exhibiting some fantastic pottery created by individuals living at the home and serving up afternoon tea.
- A garden fete at Hawthorns Care Centre will be opened by Hartlepool United Player Tommy Miller. The fun-filled day promises a balloon release, ponies, face-painting and a bouncy castle.
- Mosey-on-down to Wadhurst Manor’s Wild West hoedown, with line dancing, drinks and hay bales.
Staff will be on hand to speak with anyone wanting to find out more, so as well as being a great community gathering, the open day is also the perfect opportunity to learn more about the home and the care services on offer. Come and get involved in our big care celebrations and find out what’s going on at a Barchester care home near you!
