Woodland View Care Home opens in Colchester

Care home staff and residents were delighted when guests from the community joined them to officially open Colchester’s newest care facility, Barchester Healthcare’s Woodland View Care Home on 24th November.

Mayor Cllr Theresa Higgins, Cllr Feltham, three local charities and Queen Boudica school were invited to reveal a plaque to formally open the home at a celebratory event with musical entertainment, refreshments and delicious canapés made by the home’s talented Head Chef.

Children from the Queen Boudica School Choir filled the home with beautiful singing and a few Christmas carols really got people into the Christmas spirit.

During the speeches, the home’s new General Manager, Riet Jones was welcomed into her role by Commissioning Manager Mark McDonald and Barchester’s COO Tim Seal.

Riet Jones said: “The official opening of Woodland View was a fantastic event which brought together lots of people from the community and we all had a great time! The new facilities will provide high quality care for 60 individuals, which is a huge boost to the local community’s care. There’s a lot of interest in this new home and the superb quality of care it offers in a modern, purpose-built setting.”

Woodland View hasopened its doors to prospective residents and five people are already settling in. The 60-bed home provides quality care to the local area and offersnursing and residential care, as well as specialist dementia care in their Memory Lane Community and respite stays.
