Activities at Lindum House Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.

There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.

On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!

Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.

Kelly Rolph

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.

I grew up down south, my parents worked in news trade & I've lived in many places! I've lived in hull for 20 years now, worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!

I'm a super social person, enjoy being busy and sing in my spare time. I am part of a small singing charity group 'guise & gals'. I've been singing karaoke since I was 18 but never had the confidence to take it any further. I do, however, love putting on a show for our residents!

I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!

I'm full of energy, providing there is music... it's good for my soul!

Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Lindum House Care Home

A Virtual Reality

Recreo VR allowed our home to trial a virtual reality head set for a month to see how our residents like it and it's fair to say they don't just like it they LOVE it! Our residents had a choice of destinations from around the world near and far to choose from and explore the scenery. It was a welcome journey from everyone who tried it, even if it was virtual.

Meet the Chef!

Our home has started a new monthly activity to bring all of our residents together for our 'Meet the Chef'. Neil our head chef will put on an a session each month where he will demonstrate cooking a dish and our residents can follow along - this month it was a taste of Italy - pizza! Our residents loved getting involved and creating their own pizzas. Our residents are looking forward to future sessions.

Furry Friends

Lindum House regularly invites Furry Friends - therapy animals into the home for a session with our residents and their families. They love interacting with the animals and even those residents who usually prefer to stay in their rooms venture out to see what all the fuss is about! The different textures of the animals are interesting some scaly, furry and spiky - we can't get enough!

Fireworks

Our very own firework display!

Our residents had an amazing time celebrating bonfire night. We sat in our dining room and watched Bob our Head of Maintenance set off our fireworks. We made our very own Guy Fawkes and enjoyed a mini bonfire in our garden followed by a special tea. Our residents enjoyed reminiscing on previous displays they have attended throughout the years.

Pumpkin Carving

Our residents celebrated Halloween with an afternoon of pumpkin carving. They started by cutting the lids then moved onto hollowing out the pumpkins - our residents reminisced on past Halloweens and previous designs they created with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kelly, our activities co-ordinator, assisted with cutting out the spooky designs once our residents had drawn them on the pumpkins.

Baking Club

National decorate a cake day!

Residents, staff and relatives celebrated 'National Decorate a Cake Day'. We had a baking group where residents enjoyed decorating cakes with jam, fresh cream and much more. Afterwards we enjoyed reminiscing about past baking residents had done for their family and friends whilst enjoying the freshly decorated cakes with tea and coffee.
