Activities at South Chowdene Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Niki Powell
I arrange meaningful activities for all of our residents based on their likes and interests. I love sharing fun times with our residents, their families and with staff. I thoroughly enjoy chatting with residents about their hobbies/interests as well as reminiscing in small groups.
Our activities extend beyond the home with trips to places of interest, places residents have enjoyed throughout their lives eg. Seaside, parks, garden centers, as well as craft/ art workshops at libraries and general interest talks around the area.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at South Chowdene Care Home

Holly & the Ivy
Staff and residents across our homes were treated to an interactive virtual Christmas-inspired table decorating masterclass, courtesy of talented master florist, Kathryn Delve.
Kathryn is an independent florist based in Somerset, she specialises in creating unique wedding and event flowers. She takes much of her inspiration for her displays from the beautiful scenery that surrounds her home and the changing seasons and colours.
During the workshop, residents were invited to join Kathryn to make beautiful Christmas-themed table decorations.

Christmas Fair unites Community in Care Home
A great afternoon was had by all residents and staff at South Chowdene as we welcomed community members to our Christmas Fair. There was live entertainment from Sam Naylor who had residents and visitors singing along as well as up dancing, delicious seasonal refreshments, plenty of stalls giving visitors an opportunity to buy Christmas gifts and Tombola and Raffle stalls with fantastic prizes.

Walk through a landscape
Residents across our services had a lovely time joining Emily and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to Reubens' Rainbow Landscape.
Residents truly enjoyed the sensory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.
Everyone who joined had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to put their creative skills to the test by painting some landscapes of our their in the coming days!

Autumn Crafts
Residents got together to discuss what Autumn and Harvest meant to them and what memories they have of this time of year as well as the colours involved. We tried different ways of blending colours and trialled alternative ways of applying colours to the background in order to create an aesthetically pleasing effect. Many residents took part in this project and it was completed over a few weeks but we think the final piece was well worth the time and effort.

Milk and 2 sugars
What a fantastic time our residents had with the ‘Woven Nest’ production of ‘Milk and 2 sugars’. Every resident met ‘Pip’ personally and were wowed by her circus skills. Some finally got to play the spoons and made great tunes. There were many old favourites to sing along to and it was incredibly heart warming to see residents getting fully immersed in all the action.

Some Mother's do Ave Em
Residents across our services had a fantastic time enjoying the virtual screening of Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em. Frank Spencer’s comical misadventures had everyone laughing and it was wonderful to see so many happy faces.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and a special thanks to The Barn Theatre in the Cotswolds for bringing this stage adaptation of the beloved sitcom to our screens.
