What our families say on carehome.co.uk

"I have made many visits to see my friend since he came to Barchester Briardene Care Home over two years ago. During this time, the staff have always been caring, compassionate and friendly towards him over this period. They always appear 'for' the residents, irrespective of their circumstances or degree of incapacity. They always appear self-motivated and positive. They are always very patient with the patients! Working relationships between the staff appear to be excellent too. They are always very friendly and helpful when I speak to them and I really appreciate the cups of tea they make for me. The facilities are very good and well-maintained to a high standard. Staff always appear busy and this includes caretaking staff who are often seen on my visits. If I ever succumb to the ailments suffered by the residents at Briardene, I hope that they will find a place for me. Thank you all for doing such a first-class job for my friend."

"I am constantly impressed with the high level of care given to my mother. The staff make Barchester Briardene Care Home what it is. They are always attentive to the residents and friendly to their relatives and friends. The staff genuinely care about each resident, loving but business-like when necessary. "I can easily say I am so grateful to Barchester Briardene Care Home and their wonderful staff for taking care of my mother. I stay 6 hours away so can't get to see her as often as I would like but I know she has the best care she can be getting, as she tells me how wonderful the place is every time we go. The staff are incredible and so good to them."

"Just got back from holiday, went to visit my dad, he looks amazing and is very happy in this care home. Dad has been a resident for almost 2 years at Briardene and before this I could never have gone on holiday and relaxed without worrying the whole time. Thank you to all the staff at Briardene from the management to the care givers and supporting staff."

"I recently visited my mum. She has been at the home for a few months now and she has settled in very well. My mum suffers from high anxiety and has many challenging issues linked with the awful disease Alzheimer's which is why she was recommended to be a resident. I was blown away with the care Mum and the other residents received on my visit. The staff interacted with her and the others and you could sense a general feeling of calm and that in itself must be difficult to achieve. Mum was clean and dressed well and she looked healthy. She always took pride in her appearance and the staff have recognised this and helped her in every way for which the family are very grateful. On my visit, a singer sang songs from the 50s and 60s, all of the residents, including my mum, really enjoyed it, some of them had a dance and many sang along. It's really nice to know that they have these types of activities. I would like to thank the management and the staff for the fabulous work they are doing."

"Since my mam has been at the home she has been looked after really well. She can be very challenging but the staff are always professional & try to meet her needs to the best of their abilities. Mam has had a couple of incidents which I have been informed of and I have had chance to discuss with the staff & management. This is the third home mam has been in and this is the best by far. Thank you all for taking care of my mam."

"My experience with this care home has been excellent. From the cleaners, and laundry care staff, to admin and managers. They are all so welcoming. It is a beautiful home, with always lots going on for the residents. My sister couldn't be in a better place. I am so happy she is in this care home because when she is happy, I am."

"We are really happy that our father is in this lovely home. The staff are fantastic; they are caring and professional and treat my father with so much respect and kindness. The rooms are made like a hotel than an old people's home, modern and clean, and the meals look delicious. We highly recommend this care home."

"Hi, I would like to say a big thank you to all the hard-working, caring staff at Briardene for looking after my wife and other residents so well over these past troubling years. The collage of photos and the animation clip of the beach party day were really great. They are fun and very creative. Thank you all."

"Over the past 18 months, my opinion of Briardene has not changed, if anything, it has only been enhanced. The excellent management and their team of staff prioritise the well-being, comfort and contentment of the residents above anything else. The presentation and cleanliness of the home are of a high standard. Delicious homemade food is provided throughout the day. There are plenty of activities and events to stimulate and entertain, inclusive to families. My husband settled in well from day one and knowing he is being well cared for gives me and our family peace of mind, which is priceless."

"All the family feel that the staff are extremely helpful, well trained, kind, caring and sympathetic towards my grandad. "My dad got moved to this care home in December, and he has never looked better and so well for a long time. The staff and management are amazing and cater for all my dad's needs and well-being. Each member of staff knows my dad on a personal level. As a family, we can have peace of mind that my dad is getting the best possible care and is in great hands; thank you, Briardene Court; you are amazing."

"My husband has lived in this care home for over two years now and his care has been excellent. He was taken to hospital in March and I was told he was on end-of-life care. He went back to Briardene and was put on palliative care and nine weeks later he is still there. I cannot praise the staff enough. Every one of them is so caring, friendly and happy in their work. My husband's room is always clean and his food is adapted to his needs. Fantastic care home."

"Briardene: Part of my life for 11 years, rated as outstanding because it's true. The staff are trained to give the highest standard of professional care but gradually develop empathy, understanding and that vocation that surpasses the words work or job, true. A resident's personal care, room and physical and emotional well-being are supported by a team of cheerful people who take pride in their contribution to making life as comfortable, involved and active as possible, true. Individual needs are monitored, discussed and catered for. Staff designated to individuals to ensure information and records are updated correctly and available, true. Communication with families is prompt, inclusive and reassuring because of all of this the quality of life has improved and extended, they go the extra mile. My journey with the staff of Briardene has now ended, at the beginning I was anxious until I trusted them, gradually a great weight lifted from me and I could see a way forward. We were both 'looked after' by Briardene, all true."

All staff at the home show kindness, care and compassion in abundance. The home is very clean and very comfortable and the staff know their residents and their needs very well. "My husband passed away in Barchester Briardene Care Home. He had lived there for three and a half years. From the first day he moved in until the day he passed away, he was loved and cared for amazingly under excellent management and her team were magnificent. They cared for us, as a family. In my husband's final days, each and every member of the team looked after us. I can't thank each and every one of you enough. The manager is an amazing lady, well done for choosing such excellent staff."

"My wife was moved to Barchester Briardene Care Home in late June 2024, this was her third move since May 2022 when she was admitted to another care home in Richmond, diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Since her arrival, I have observed the manner to which the carers and nurses carry out their daily tasks and have noted a fast improvement in the care, attention and affection they have shown towards each resident, especially their observation awareness."

"My dad moved to Barchester Briardene Care Home from almost two months in hospital and following one and a half years at a care home. We were initially sad that his previous care home could no longer meet his needs; however, we knew from our initial meeting with Briardene management that Briardene was the best place for him to receive care. All of the staff at Briardene show real understanding of his dementia and complex needs and are always respectful of his personality and individual preferences. He has been at Briardene for about eight months now and we are 100% confident in the care he continues to receive."

"After a stay in hospital due to a broken hip, Dad was not very well at all. Since his return to Barchester Briardene Care Home, he has come on leaps and bounds due to the dedication and care from the wonderful staff. I would like to say thank you to all concerned - this is, by far, one of the best care homes, with the best management and staff."

"My husband has been cared for at Barchester Briardene Care Home for the last three years, sadly passed away on March 10th. He was in the most wonderful place, I always felt it was a place for both of us. It was my second family, nothing was too much trouble for them. Such loving, caring, warm people with hearts of gold. They all treated my husband with respect and we've seen how attached they get to residents. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Miss you all so much."

Staff are lovely and brilliant with Stepdad, even when he gets agitated, they always have a smile on their faces and genuinely care. Food is lovely, room is always clean and cosy."

"My father was a resident at this care home for nearly two years however he recently passed away on the 26th April 2024. During his time at Briardene Dad received exceptional care from what I can only describe as a totally dedicated and totally professional team. The care provided didn't just stop at Dad; it was extended to the whole family every time we visited - in fact it's fair to say that the team at Briardene felt like an extension of our own family. Dementia is a cruel disease and it is heartbreaking to watch it slowly but surely destroying a person however simple things like Dad always having clean clothes, having a regular haircut, having a daily shave, eating excellent food and living in a clean environment make it all the more bearable - thank you team Briardene for everything thing that each of you did for Dad. We celebrated Dad's life last week and it meant so much to us that many of the team from Briardene came along to the Crematorium to wish him farewell!"

"My mum is in this home and it is outstanding. The staff are amazing and it's like having an extended family. It is such a relief for me, as her daughter, that I do not have to worry about my mum as I know she is loved and well cared for at the home. My mum has Alzheimer's and is always treated with care and respect, even though she can't really communicate now. I am truly grateful that my mum is in such a wonderful care home."

"My husband has been a resident at Briardene for only a very short time but I am already impressed with, and reassured by, the care, patience and understanding the manager and her entire team are showing him and his family members. Our daughter and her two young children, who do not live in the northeast, had not seen him for three months and I was concerned that visiting him in Briardene at such an early stage could be upsetting for all. I need not have worried. Staff enabled us all to be together in a small, cosy lounge, an ideal setting, and provided much-appreciated refreshments. My husband has a rare dementia and his journey will undoubtedly continue to be challenging but I feel confident that all the staff will support him and us along the way."

"First of all, Happy New Year to everyone at Barchester Briardene. Thank you all for going above and beyond at Christmas. Had Xmas dinner with our loved one, and even had a table for two set for my daughter and myself, wonderful. Lovely Christmas lunch. As we go into the New Year, myself and my family would like to express our thanks and gratitude to every one of you, for your excellent continuing care of our loved one, nothing is too much trouble. Briardene is a home from home, so friendly and caring, like one big family. I would 100% recommend this home. Once again, big, big thank you to you all."

"Briardene Care Home is an exceptional place where the staff and managers clearly support the residents, each other and visitors with the utmost dignity and respect. This extends to the back-office staff and all who work there. This is a genuinely caring community of people, who seem to love what they do and put the residents first in all circumstances and this is based on many visits, phone calls, meetings and gatherings. The care is exemplary, the surroundings are clean and welcoming, and I've heard more than one member of staff say "it's a privilege to care for the residents". They take the time to know each person and work with humour, dignity and kindness - it gives my family and me such peace of mind. Thank you so much."
