Activities at Brookfield Care Home

Our Activities coordinator dedicates her time on getting feedback from our residents of what they like to do. We have introduced paper mornings which involves group discussions and an active mind, and we also have a variety of entertainers that come in on a weekly basis. We hold a residents quiz once a week as it is one of our more popular activities, we now call it the Big Quiz due to its popularity.

It is important that we involve the community and family in many of our activities. We have the local rugby club heritage centre coming in once a week to do Bocci (indoor bowls) and seated exercise. We also hold cheese and wine evenings for family and residents which are very popular. Here at Brookfield we pride ourselves on the fabulous bond our activity coordinator has with all our residents as they are as happy to see her each morning as she is to see her friends.

Life at Brookfield Care Home

Resident Honours the Fallen

Brookfield's resident, Raymond Oakes along with residents commemorated Remembrance Day on Sunday 10th November, where they joined the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at 11am.

As well as marking Remembrance Day by wearing poppies and watching the televised service, some residents were taken to the local cenotaph to commemorate the members of the armed forces who died in the line of duty. In the days leading up to Remembrance Sunday residents participated in Remembrance arts and crafts.

Raymond also marked the occasion to with a visit to the local cenotaph and service to remember his former comrades.  Ray has also written a book titled ‘The three wise monkeys’ about his 20 year career in the National service.

And residents enjoyed getting into the Halloween spirit with some spooktacular pumpkin carving triumphs for display throughout the home.

Their spooky creations are now displayed proudly in the home’s foyer for all guests to see and admire. Sarah Nolan, General Manager said “This was such a lovely way to spend the afternoon.”
